pizza/focaccio

i was at downers grove farmers market and there was a booth selling homeade pizza/focaccio,lost the business card,anyone know the name of the vendor? by the way the spicy/mushroom/garlic was very tasty!

I'm not going to be much help here as I can't remember the name either, but I bet its the bakery that kinda recently opened a restaurant in Oak Brook Terrace. They do the farmers market in the Loop too. I can't BELIEVE I can't remember the name. Hopefully someone will pick up on my "clue"

I think the restaurant in Oakbrook Terrace that your thinking of is Eggstacy. The owners have another restaurant in Downers Grove called Dali's Cafe. I would imagine that it could have been Labriola Bakery which opened recently in the Oak Brook Promenade on Butterfield Road.

Could it have been Elena's Cucina? Their deli/catering operation is located in Roselle but Elena, or more likely, her husband can be found at a number of local farmer's markets.

Past LTH posts (which I can't find right now) have given props to Elena and her focaccia - - we get them all the time at the Schaumburg market and they're very tasty. If I remember the story, her parents own/owned a much loved italian market.

thanks but,none of those are the name i was looking for. it started with a"c",celia's or something like that,i believe it was a caterer,i guess i'll just have to head to downers again this sat. to find out!

Ahhh, by going to the link I found out they'll be in Elmhurst tomorrow at the Farmer's Market; I'll have to make sure to by some focaccia.

I'm so disappointed. I went to Elena's website and it showed that they would be at the Elmhurst Farmer's Market on Wednesdays. I went Wednesday and they weren't there. The only bread companys there were the usual suspects, Breadsmiths and Labriola. Looks like I'll have to go to Downers on Saturday.

Go early! At the Schaumburg market this morning, Elena's husband was closing shop, completely sold out by 10:00.

If you are close enough to Elena's deli in Roselle, call a day ahead of time to request the type of focaccia (artichoke, tomato/basil, sausage, etc.) you want. They are usually very accomodating and we've done this a number of times around the holidays. Her bread is worth the effort to plan ahead for.

Yes, that is the way to go with the Elmhurst Farmers Market in general. It can be tough to find parking. If I lived closer, I'd bike.

For two weeks in a row now, I have made the long walk from my office to the Federal Plaza Farmers' market solely for Elena's Cocina. Her butter crusted focaccia is to die for - it's like a croissant. They also sell premade Italian sandwiches on their focaccia bread for $5. It's a nice change of pace to the usual Loop options.
