Enough Lthforum.com--Lets Shut This Place Down!!

Eater.com is offering $25 to every blogger willing to close his or her food blog down. I know this isn't a democracy but if I had a vote I would burn this whole joint down. I mean it is $25 and this is a depression.

Why $25? Probably could have offered $10 and they would have gotten plenty of takers.

If I open a blog and then close it will they give me $25?

So would that be $25 each for all 7,200 members?

Blog has to be up for over a month, and it's limited to the first 25 requests.

That's worse than cash for clunkers. Oh, you have to have own the clunker for over a year, blah, blah, blah.

This is a really blatant publicity stunt and it's working ... they're getting a ton of hits and links out of it.

What I'd like to see is a "cash for cliches" program, or maybe just a cap-and-trade policy for over-worked adjectives, cutesy puns, threadbare similes and the like. Let market forces improve the blogs we have, or winnow the herd when they can't afford their own mediocrity any longer. (Needless to say this should apply to mainstream journalism as well.)

Personally, I think his idea is a revelation. Proving that some of these blogs aren't too big to fail could be the new black.

Not just cliches, but a 'cash for Twitter accounts' program would be good. Other than following messages of certain groups I like on twitter(and the political ones are good, since they have real time posts on amendment votes), I've just never gotten into that site at all for whatever reason....
