    Mmmm... Toon's Wings! :)

Could somebody tell me why this thread is substantially different (or even minimally different) from Chicago's Best Chicken Wings thread, which resurfaced recently. These two threads should be merged since they are essentially identical.

edit:I see EatChicago made the same point up-thread (sort of).

Good thought. Maybe take it a step further. Merge every thread together into a superdiscussion called: "FOOD THREAD". Mods?

Because every thread on this board is not about the best chicken wings in Chicago. These two are. NAVMAN you make a totally bogus and hyperbolic argument. The two threads are exactly the same except one has a a rhyming title. mods?

To paraphrase Roger Ebert, what you're about takes secondary importance to how you're about it. In this case, I'm entertained by the latter more than inspired by the former, and just ribbing our friends, both of whom I respect.

I would submit Slab jerk wings for consideration, but as pointed out by teatpuller, we're talking buffalo, which I do think makes this worthy of a separate thread.

THe "Best Wings in Chicago" thread is a generic compilation of some of Chicago's more delicious chicken wings (no style specified)

"KING WING" appears to be one man's quest for (specifically) buffalo wings/greatness.

I am also a big fan of Toon's wings, and basically everything I have had @ Toon's for that matter.

Toon's wings rank right up at the top for me along with Smitty's out in Leonore(I know, out of the designated area, but I dont believe in geographical boundries when it comes to a search for the best).

This thread is about one man's personal quest to taste and report back on what is the current state of wings in the City of Chicago. Not much different than the many -a-thons that have been floating around (except being a personal quest).

Let it stand alone. :) I want to hear who wears the CROWN.

Sorry, I did not read all the way through the original post because it had little information of value, just a lot of blank spaces. I hate these kinds of threads (too reminiscent of that "other" board). I guess the title of the thread should be King Buffalo Wing or best buffalo wings in Chicago (If there is not already a thread on that subject), instead of being noted in a (somewhat snotty) postscript calling all other wings "BS". For instance, a thread about best thin crust pizza would be perfectly valid. Still, the Best Wings thread has a lot of info on buffalo wings, which people should not be compelled to repost just so their favorites can be considered for "KING WING".

Personally, I have never had a buffalo WING I would consider the KING of anything (to me they are bad suburban bar food). Maybe somebody can turn me around, but I would nominate a "BS" Great Seas Korean style WING KING any day.

Admittedly, I don't get out to the suburbs much. What is a BW3? Is that a chain? I have to admit that I have very limited experience with Buffalo Wings. I always found the flavor very one dimensional (without the addition of blue cheese or ranch), so I may well have only eaten bad examples. In the spirit of fair play and spreading my chicken wing horizons, if there is a KING WING crowned, I promise I will give them a try.

    D4v,

BW3s is what people call it who go to Buffalo Wild Wings so much they no longer need to sound out the name. Used to put down the Asian Zing and Mango Habenero on the regular.

Years back, the NAV MAN drank the wall at the Dayton, OHIO BW3s.

Regardless, cheers to new adventures for D4V after the King is crowned.

IDID, I'd say you need good old Chicago Brown's Chicken in there as a control. Those are the buffalo wings many of us grew up on. (Apologies to Churchill. The wings on which up we grew.) And I like your coffee better than Silas's.

"BW3", short for "Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck", was the original name of the Minneapolis-based chain now just called "Buffalo Wild Wings". While many of their 600+ locations are in the suburbs, there is one in Lincoln Park that instantly transports you to the suburbs upon walking in the door.

Many folks swear by BW3's wings...personally, I'm not a fan at all. I also find the Lincoln Park location's atmosphere to be a bland, gloomy buzzkill. In general, it's a chain I try to avoid whenever possible (and have a hard time stopping myself from making snide comments when I'm not able to avoid going).

Many will scoff at the suggestion, but Jewel has awesome buffalo wings. B-Dub's, as the folks in the know call it, have mediocre wings at best. The only thing that gets them any street cred is that they have a bunch of different sauces (which is pretty sweet). I eat wings on the reg and am pretty excited to see what place wins KING WING. This adventure could revolutionize my Sunday.

Just hammered back 4 atomic boneless strips and 10 rock solid cajun wings from Wing Stop on harlem/bloomingdale. Real solid little stop at the wing shop. Feeling the fire right now. Washed it back with a few brewcats. NAV MAN livin' the high life.

Got pics but the NAV USB CORD is in the NAV CAB and the NAV MAN is too lazy to go get it.

I like them, but I don't think H1's wings qualify as "buffalo." If I recall, they are breaded, whole wings, and served with BBQ sauce. Buffalo wings should be unbreaded wing sections with sauce based on cayenne/butter.
