I ended up going tonight and enjoyed some very good food.
My highlights:
Savory dishes1. NoMi - Foie gras on toasted brioche with burgundy truffle and shredded celery root. Chef David has always done amazing things with foie gras and this was no exception.
2. The Bristol - Pate with pickled mushrooms, squash and radicchio. Pate simply does not get better than this.
3. Takashi - Chicken wings fried in duck fat (seemed coated with some sesame seeds too) with spicy napa cabbage. There was a wait as these were being fried right there, but these were without question the best chicken wings I have ever tasted.
4. Graham Elliot - Artic char with cider bubbles, bacon powder and brussel sprouts.
Sweets1. Tru (Gale Gand's sweet table) - This was pretty much a Tru dessert tasting menu and it was phenomenal with four great tastes. An anise bavarian custard with grapefruit marmalade and brown sugar caramel. This was so smooth and so delicious. A chocolate lollipop with a creamy caramel center (also excellent). There was an excellent pear-vanilla jelly, and best of all was a ginger macaron with a molasses ganache. It was the ideal macaron - slightly crispy exterior, a light but chewy middle and excellent fall flavors.
2. Naha - I can't recall all of the specifics but it was a luscious dark chocolate mousse atop a thin cookie base with caramelized hazelnuts - fantastic.
There were a number of other very good tastes, but the above were the ones which impressed me the most. In the end, I was happy I went, but I only did so after finding out about the $25 discount.
