I thought it would be better to move this topic from the Professional Forum to this one.

I visited this place yesterday. I got some cookies and some pastries. The things I have tried, so far, are very good. Everything looked good. To me it looked a lot the type of bakery I used to visit in Highwood.

I hope they make it, as this area could use a good bakery.

Errr, uummm, what kind of cookies? What kind of pastries? Tastes? Anything they specialize in or do outstandingly well that you'll come back for or recommend to us? :?: Please communicate a bit more, be a little more descriptive if you can't post pictures, so we can get an idea of what they have to offer! I'd really like to check out a new bakery in this area, but you'll have to do more to sell it to me... :(

    dodger,

Just so happens that I'll be in Mundelein early next week, so I'll check this place out. Thanks for what I found to be a helpful report. Sandman is a tough sell and a very demanding customer, it seems.

You are right about being more descriptive, but I attribute it to me ignorance and lack of picture taking ability. I can’t pronounce or remember all the names of the things I tried. I got an assortment of their cookies that my family liked a lot.

I had a sponge cake with a cannolli filing and an anisette biscotti, both excellent. I think my favorite so far is something called a cinnamon stick. I was lucky to get them just out of the oven. They look like a thin bread stick, but made of light pastry dough, creamed filled, excellent.

I definitely recommend this place. I plan to go back next Sunday and will try to make more mental notes.

I had stopped in yesterday on my way home from work. It looked like they were about to close (It was right around 6pm).

I will say that this place was fantastic! I ordered two sandwiches from them and some pastries that I took home. Wow! The sandwich I ordered I think was called the Loretta Sub and got my wife a sandwich that was called a Muffaletta? This thing was huge (and very reasonably priced)! I was not able to finish my 'Sub' and will be enjoying the rest of it for lunch today. The sub had an assortment of meats on there and it was delicious! I am not sure what was on my wife's sandwich (the muffaletta) but it had this olive spread on there that was out of this world! She loved it (and she is a hard sell)! :D

The pastries were very unique. This isn't your typical bakery with a couple of donuts... They had such an assortment of authentic Italian pastries which of course included cannolli's, eclairs and tiramisu (Sorry if I am butchering the spelling). However I opted for some pastries that I have never seen before. Unfortunately, I don't recall the names on any of them. The pastry I ate had some type of liquor in it and it was phenomenal! My wife had the tiramisu and she said it was the best tiramisu she has ever had (and she is Italian).

I noticed that they had some "Take Home" dinners that I will be trying. They had lasagna and I'm not sure what else.

All in all the food and desserts were great! The prices were more than reasonable. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

My only "gripe" about this place is that it is opened till 6pm (I believe) and I may not be able to make it depending on what time I get off work.

I would love to hear someones opinion on the Take Home they have as I am looking forward to trying it
