Our own extremely talented Santander will be performing this Sunday at the University of Chicago's Rockefeller Chapel as part of Sounds of Faith:
Sounds of Faith – Chicago uses the acoustic and architectural backdrop of the Chapel to introduce listeners to the most beautiful sounds of worship, reflection, and daily life in these interwoven traditions in our city, performed or intoned by their leading practitioners, in their own right. From calls to worship – bells, shofar horns, the muezzin – to chant, recitation, Gospel choir, pipe organ, and even devotional ‘street’ music heard in taxis and halls across Chicago, this event presents an opportunity to see, hear, and feel firsthand what one may have only encountered in passing before.
I invite other LTHers to join me for what sounds like a beautiful program and then for dinner afterward. To continue the theme of disparate traditions coming together, I plan to make my first visit to one of Santander's favorite Hyde Park establishments,
Rajun Cajun, for some Indian vegetarian + soul food. I'm proposing dinner at about 7:15 to leave enough time to say hello to Santander after the performance ends. Please post here if you plan to make it to Rockefeller Chapel and/or dinner.
