Just went today. Had the 40-day dry aged "burker". Delicious! Medium rare to perfection, although two companions' burgers were overcooked. Also had the $6 truffle asiago fries which were excellent. And the $5 "ultimate burger topping plate" which had very boring sauteed mushrooms, but outstanding homemade ketchup (which strangely was not offered with the fries), huge jumbo pickle, pickled red onion and garlic mustard.

All in all quite nice, even if they messed up the order... $5 for one of these tender tasty puppies is a steal.

I think it goes until Friday.

David Burke's Primehouse is in the James Hotel on Rush and Ontario.

I'm not following, what the "deal" would be . . . if the restaurant "messed up the order" by not cooking the meat properly (or as requested), for two out of the three people. Such a comment reminds me of how badly this restaurant performed for some time after it opened - by missing the mark on the cooking of many of the steaks . . . and how some boosters kept saying something similar to (my words), "That's okay, the (raw) meat is such good quality. It's aged ...... days." Who's eating the meat raw? It was cooked meat they'd gone to the restaurant for. $5 for a correctly cooked/presented high-quality (meat) burger would be a deal. But charging that price and not delivering the goods . . . wouldn't be (for me) :?

I personally don't get the attraction of this place. As I have posted earlier, I was there for their Dim Sum brunch with the Mrs. and was completely underwhelmed. I went so far as to e-mail the GM and let him know how bad our experience was during our visit on both the food and service. He said he would love to make it up to us and send us a certificate to come back., I said it was not necessary, I just wanted him to know of both the hits and misses, he said he wanted to anyway, so I said OK....That was a month ago and I never received anything. Am I upset of not receiving a gift certificate, no, as it is difficult to get into the city for a meal, but what does upset me is the lack of follow through on a promise. Just my two cents...

Place was packed last Friday for $5 burgers. The restaurant, the lounge, it was intense. Experience was pleasant enough. Really liked the fries. Thought the tempura green beans were kind of a throwaway. Fine, but not exactly compelling either.

I thought the topping plate was a pretty good addition. Sure, not the best sauteed onions, mushrooms, bacon, etc. I've had, but one plate was more than large enough to share between a couple a people. Liked the huge pickle, but I freaking love pickles. It's weird.

As for the burger, mine was definitely medium though I ordered it medium-rare. Not a huge deal. I thought the flavor of the burger was spot on. Nice hint of dry age, enough salt but not a salt bomb as so many burgers are. The burger was a bit dry such that I would've liked a fattier blend. Again, for this style of burger, and especially for $5, I was happy.
