    Has anyone been there yet?
    Vic’s BBQ located at 11306 S. Harlem.
Sort of a newer place....I think they have been open a month or so.

EDIT: think they have only been open a week or two?

Did a carry out order from vics, full slab with seasoned fries, sweet potatoes fries and a pound of rib tips. Ribs were kinda tuff, a bit dry, not real meaty and did not have much flavor or smoke to them.

The tips were good and chopped small, had good meat on them and not much fat. Good and lean!
I liked them better than the ribs and my girl agreed.
Both the meats did not have much smoke flavor to them and I did get the sauce on this side. The hot bbq sauce was good forget the name think it was called something like wahoo hot?

The fries were grim, got em home 10-15 mins they were mega soggy and no good. If you order the fries you better eat them there or in your car quick.

Dude said they have only been open about 20 days and are doing good.
    Found a coupon for $2.00 off a $10.00 or more order…print out and bring in >> http://www.retailmenot.com/printable/merchant/vics-bbq

Next trip will be the brisket and turkey.

Ate at Vic's yesterday, actually carry out. I had the tips and brisket combo. I noticed the tips were finished off on the grill which gave them a liitle bit of crunch on the outside, however nothing special but acceptable for this part of town. The brisket had a good smoke flavor but was dry and too lean for my taste. There is a dearth of good bbq in this area so I will go back and try the ribs and pulled pork. They were using Landmann smokers but the woman behind the counter had no info on wood types.

Living in Mt. Greenwood I usually go to I-57 or Best BBQ both of which are on 115th st. at I -57, one on each side.

Also being a Mt. Greenwood type, I've found that Best's in fact bests most anything south and west of it. However, I find their sauces too gloppy, with the BBQ being far too sugary and the hot being too vinegary--but it's hands-down superior to anything you'll find in Palos/Worth/beyond. Fortunately, I don't mind the trip over to Lem's/Barbara Ann's...

I tried Vic's yesterday, and my impression of it was similar to PhilW's.

Prices were fine $5 for a sandwich and side, $10 for a combo of 2 meats and 2 sides. Service was a little confused even going 1 customer at a time.

I ordered the two meat/two side and took tips, turkey breast, fries, and beans.

The good were the fries which were hand cut thin, crispy, hot out of the fryer and worth coming there for by themselves. The rib tips were also good, with a nice bark, and tender interior. They are chopped fairly small and could stand to absorb a little more smoke, but have potential.

The bad was the beans. Just awful. When I first saw them I thought they gave me refried beans. The texture and color were the same, and no meat added to them. The turkey breast was very weak as well, absolutely no smoke flavor.

They use a couple of small gas powered cabinet style smokers that looked like they were more for residential use than commercial. There was a selection of about 4 or so sauces, the ones I tried weren't great.

All in all, if you are looking for a cheap fix, it wasn't bad, and I would consider it a work in progress.

Rolled out to Vic's again tonight...got a pound and a half tips with hot sauce on the side. Have a special running for $8.00 for the order. Tips were good, great flavor, the smoke flavor was good on them, better than the first batch or two I had. The order was HUGH and served hot and tasted pretty fresh. The wang dang doodle hot sauce is great. Good heat and flavor to it. Chatted with Vic while I was there...good peoples and good foods. He seems to really care about his BBQ and making it better ever week. The tips go great with the hot sauce and a six pack of Negra Modelo! YUM!!
