That was not my experience. In fact, I had the worst wine service I've ever experienced in a restaurant that has a sommelier at L2O.

    Can you elaborate?

I posted a full review on eGullet. http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?/topic/115631-chi-l2o-laurent-gras/page__view__findpost__p__1651914

Thanks. Amazing how much consistency there is among the reviews of this place. jayrech, if you are comfortable with the price, I say go to Alinea.

Went to Tru for my anniversary on Friday night. I think the romance is what you make it. It was so quiet in that place. Weirdly so. In any case the highlights were the service, caviar and the sable fish, the lowlights were the gnocchi, and the cafeteria style beef (really unpleasant tasting with the brown gravy on it) , I had the $145 tasting menu, and they didn't offer a wine tasting. I enjoyed my experience, but my dinner at Sixteen far exceeded this dinner.
