A local resident was walking back to his vehicle Sunday night after buying 16 tacos for $41 when a man wearing a black ski mask and a hooded sweat shirt ran up to him, according to Elgin Deputy Police Chief Jeff Swoboda.

The masked man waved a machete and took the tacos, but nothing else. He then drove off in an older-model light green car, Swoboda said.

Who pays $2.50 a pop for a taco? I wonder what was in them, then...

Probably exaggerated the value for insurance purposes.

That's "street value". Vastly over-exaggerated for sensationalism in the press. Just like a pot bust.

The lesson here is clear. To avoid being robbed of your wallet, watch and other valuables, always be sure to carry a sack of tacos.

Bonus Invincible Points if you are carrying a bag of tacos and also happen to be David Copperfield.

From the Palm Beach Post "Copperfield told Page Two he pulled out all of his pockets for Riley to see he had nothing, even though he had a cellphone, passport and wallet stuffed in them."

Of course, if I had to choose, I'd much rather be carrying a bag of tacos than be David Copperfield.
