Hi- I am considering going to the winter farmer's market that is going to take place from noon-3:00pm tomorrow at the Evangelical Free Church which is located at 5255 Ashland in Andersonville. This is one of those winter markets that takes place in several different churches every month in the Chicago area. Has anybody been to any of these markets? How many vendors show up, and specifically how many produce vendors show up? I need to go to Andersonville to pick up a bag of brown beans before Christmas anyway, and I would rather visit Erickson's deli before the lutfisk business kicks into full force. The times I used to go there to pick up lutfisk for my mother right before Christmas, it took me 45 minutes to get out of the store. There is also a farmer's market taking place from 10:00am-2:oopm tomorrow at the Botanic Garden. Orianna is going to be at that one. Thanks for any info., Nancy

I stopped by this market about 45 minutes ago and picked up some ajvar, cardoons ($1/bunch!!) and a massive bag of mixed slightly imperfect apples for $6 - I just weighed it and it's 12lbs of apples. I recognized some vendors from GCM, and some were new to me. The place was definitely bustling - I only wish it was at that same location every weekend throughout the Winter..

I would guess that there were 20 vendors present, with a decent mix of items on offer - baked goods, canned items, ice cream, cheese, mushrooms, etc. Unfortunately I only saw about 4 vendors with fresh produce, but so it goes in the Winter, I guess.

The Market Manager of the Andersonville Market and all the roving winter markets, Robin "Winter" Schirmer provided a nice report of Sunday's activities at the Local Beet.
