Went to Kenny's Ribs after I found out I 57 rib house near 183 and kedzie was closed on Sundays...bummer.
Had a large order of rips tips and full slab.
Both meats had almost no smoke flavor, even after the in your face sniff...not much.
Tips and ribs were both dry and tuff. Flavor of the meats with no sauce was very poor, the large order of tips I got was small but they pill the frys and bread high to make up for it. Tips also had way to much fat and gizzle on them.
The wife and girls did not care for it at all and did not even wannna eat it after a few bites and my little dude ate one or two tips and said he did not like em and did not want any more....yeah it was that bad!! Four thumbs down.

I had a hypoglycemic meltdown on the way to the Museum of Contemporary Art last night and made an emergency stop at Freshii in Water Tower Place for a boost. I ordered the Bliss Bowl, which was supposed to be brown rice, roasted red peppers, diced tomatoes. grilled portabella, avocado, red onions and goat cheese with suggested additions of EVOO and balsamic vinegar. Given the state of my blood sugar, I missed the whole custom food concept (didn't fill out the little form) so quickly requested black beans when I was told that they had no more mushrooms and did not ask for any dressing (again, wasn't paying attention). So I got a large take-out container of what seemed like just rice with diced tomatoes a medium-ish glob of goat cheese. I ate it.

I like the Freshii wraps, but I agree the bowls are pretty bad.

Glad I'm not the only one. When this happens to me, I have been known to make bad food decisions since I am in a rush to eat anything so I don't pass out or get double vision. Now I carry peanut butter crackers for the fear of eating crap.

Not quite - he would have had to have compared APART to Hitler, or the Nazis. Making APART out to be Packers fans does come pretty close though

Yeah. It can get quite ugly. I typically carry two Larabars (one too many meltdowns while being stuck on CTA led me to double my stash), but I had forgotten that I had eaten the emergency food from the bag I was carrying (I have snacks stuffed into all of my bags and coat pockets). I've since remedied the situation. :)

I've not had anything from Freshii even though I work across the street. Coworkers haven't exactly raved about it. Next time you're in that area, a rice bowl from Wow Bao would be an acceptable solution.

That's a good idea. I used to eat their bao--was my go-to snack before movies at the Gene Siskel Film Center over at State & Lake--but I'm avoiding flour these days, so Wow Bao has been on my "avoid" list. I thought an employee at the State & Lake location told me that all of their food has flour (or maybe she was talking about gluten). I should investigate further.

IMO the only edibe thing at Wow Bao are the bao's, but even they are iffy. Portions are small for the price, and not that great flavor-wise.

Goumet House on Algonquin Rd. Picked up $45 take out and basically threw most of it away. Very little taste or flavoring to any of the food. Egg rolls...mediocre..baby shrimp rolls...we both liked these...egg fu yung...edible .....sweet and sour chicken...just okay....
2 beef dishes...thrown out...still on the search for tasty chinese food in McHenry county.

Tried teriyaki chicken samples from both of the Gurnee Mills food court Japanese teriyaki stands. One clearly better than the other... but then I outsmarted myself and ordered a hot and spicy stir fry (for its sinus-clearing purposes). Of course whatever logic applies to picking one fake- Japanese fast food place over another is completely invalidated when you order the fake Chinese food there. But I sniffled a little less, at least.

Okay, I'm sure to get mocked for this, but what's wrong with this photo? Looks tasty to me, assuming the squares are all fish and not a little dinky piece like the shrimp.

I suppose it's fine as long as Pete's is serving filets of the very coveted and well-known species, "squarefish."*

For some reason, that picture amused me to no end, to the point where I caught myself smiling as I looked at it. Even if I'm not totally sure what I'm looking at - are the breaded rectangles on top the "fish", and the breaded irregular-shaped things underneath the "chips", or are the rectangles on top hash brown-like "chips" and the irregular things underneath the "fish"?

Odd as your subject matter was, I gotta say, that's some nice photography.

    Ha!

That's the fish on top. The items beneath are actually the shrimp. I used them to prop up the fish (it's about all they were good for). The chips are not pictured.
