While discussing a university student staple (Kraft dinner), I had mentioned a "dish" to my american fiance (also an lth-er) comprised of Kraft dinner and hot dog pieces. After responding with "gross" and "yuck", he added that he had never heard of it.

After a quick search on google, I've come to realise that, along with bagged milk and poutine, this seems to be a "Canadian thing". Someone... anyone... please prove me wrong. I need to know that this combo wasn't thought up by Canadians. :)

At the risk of embarrassing myself, but in the interest of full disclosure, we used to make that dish for our children (but with the addition of canned LeSeur peas). To further add to my shame, I used to eat it, too, adding Worchestershire sauce.

So Canadians are not the only goofy ones, eh?

Your fiance's mother grew up with it in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But we also put "eh?" on the end of our sentences, so we might have been Canadian.

My parents also prepared this fine culinary delight for myself and my sister back in the early 70's, when we were living outside of Milwaukee.

Back in the "poor old days", we used to have hot dogs in macaroni and cheese and hot dogs chopped up in escalloped potatoes, and hot dogs in baked beans..

When you come from a large family, hot dogs pop up in a number of applications.
