I object to Lincoln Station being the 2nd worst wing...
I think IDID has done a fantastic job with his list with the exception of his blasphemous commentary on LS
Surely, somebody else besides IDID has sampled the LS wings and wants to weigh in?
Anybody know where I can buy rainbow cookies in Chicago?

I wasn't going to bother posting about Lincoln Station but here it is, since it seems you really to want to hear it. I tried their wings a couple weeks ago and left disappointed. The sauce (ordered hot, not extra hot) wasn't bad but lacked the vinegar zing that makes Toon's so good. Celery was nice and fresh, no complaints there. The blue cheese dressing tasted thin and cheap. The real problem was with the wings. The meat was dry and tough, as if reheated. It was Wing Day ($0.35 each) so it's possible they might prepare batches in advance. In addition to inexpensive wings, Mondays feature pints of Metropolitan for $2.50 so I can't complain too much.

I've satisfied my curiosity and have no plans to check out more wings in the near future. The results of my miniwingathon are clear: Toon's is my favorite with Bird's Nest not too far behind (if you can get them to give you the proper sauce). Lincoln Station is a very distant third.

    Anyone else?
A this rate, I might have to drown my sorrows in a basket of wings from the station...

Thanks for weighing in Rene G

Lincoln Station is actually the 3rd worst or 7th place wing at this point. If it makes you feel any better bsmooth7 I've only tried to go to those places that are heavily recommended (hopefully hitting the best of the best), and to be honest the only wings that have been complete disappointments are Vini's and Yak-Zies.

Just had a subpar batch of wings from LS...
As others have noted, chicken was dry and overcooked and sauce was less than plentiful...

I can now understand others' disappointment...

Had a chance to be out enjoying some outdoor activities with a few non-foodie friends and figured we would stop by a few of the highly rated places on this list.

Since we were on the run we were ordering ahead, picking them up and dining outside at various locations around the city.

Our first stop was at Twisted Spoke.

This turned out to be my companions favorite of the day. Not a pure Buffalo Chicken Wing as there was a hint of sweetness to the sauce. Nice and crispy with large pieces. My companions were spicy sensitive and they enjoyed the nice balance of sweet and hot.

The one thing that surprised me was the juiciness of the chicken. There was a burst of juice with every bite.

    Next up? Birds Nest.

When I called I remembered that they did not have traditional Buffalo Style and asked what wing was special. Hot and sweet was the recommended order as it was the favorite.

Yup! It was hot and sweet. A touch too hot for my companions and the flavors not melding well.

    Last stop... Toons.

As with my previous visit they were very good and my personal favorite of the day. Good solid Buffalo sauce and nice crispy and big wings.

All in all a fun day with my friends enjoying being a member of a small taste test.

Toons very strong but a surprise from Twisted Spoke on the juiciness wining over the crowd.

Bird's Nest does actually have a Buffalo-style wing...they call it "Bird's Nest Hot Sauce". Due to a stupid font color decision on the part of whoever designed their menu, it looks like a section heading rather than a sauce option.

As for why half of the staff seems to be oblivious to the existence of this sauce, it's a mystery.

Okay, I am here to redeem myself...

Just ate some buffalo wings from here today and these are easily in anyone's top 3 in chicago...
Though I haven't seen any mention of these wings at LTH

Good size, crunchy, authentic Buffalo flavor, not too saucy (which is my preference)

Let me know what you think...
