My friend's in Northbrook and I'm in (downtown) Chicago. We're looking for a place for dinner tomorrow night, preferably somewhere that's roughly between Northbrook and downtown. Smoque's a logical choice, and a favorite of ours, but at dinner time the wait can be too lengthy, and possibly oudoors, and Smoque's not a place where you can eat and then linger. We've been to some of the LTHForum award winners on Kedzie (Middle Eastern), Kuma's, Tre Kronor, one of the Korean places, TAC Quick, the Thai place at Western and Irving Park (Sticky Rice?) ... hmmm ... can't recall them all. Also, I hate to admit it but we're rather gluttonous. I thought we could try Burt's Pizza, but he knows the area better than I do and said Melrose Park's too out of the way for both of us. Any recommendations? Thanks!!!

You're thinking of Burt's Place, not Burt's Pizza. Burt's Place is in Morton Grove, between Northbrook and downtown.

Personally, I highly recommend Mixteco Grill, on the north side. And yes, it's a GNR winner too.

    RonnieO,

How about Sabatino's for old school red tablecloth Italian? Very nice minnestrone, veal scallopini, chicken parmesan, and a really tasty oyster Rockefeller. Reasonably priced and easy access from the Edens.

    Sabatino's Restaurant and Lounge
    4441 W. Irving Park Rd.
    Chicago, Illinois

Sabatino's is particularly a good choice not only for the reason's Evil Ronnie listed, but Wednesday is also the Lobster Special...not to be missed.
