What didn't prompt you for a login? How do I find that page? Do you have a URL?

Link is hiding there at the end of Panther's post. (For you, Steve, I have broken my rule about not adding any more entries to this thread).

I linked to the full Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/kumascorner
Panther linked directly to the January burger entry: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=145129716&blogId=524418216
The link directly to the full blog is: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendId=145129716

All of which are publicly accessible, no myspace account is needed. Obviously, the blog links are not easily committed to memory, but the main page is, and googling 'kumas myspace' will pretty much take you straight there as well. If you wanted to subscribe to their blog and get email notifications when they update, that would require a myspace account.

I have no idea why their actual site doesn't have a blog component that would allow for easy updates of news and monthly burgers...

The January burger of the month is the Bloodhorse burger. It is as follows:

10 oz patty served on a garlic and herb buttered pretzel roll, topped with pepperoni, house made spicy marinara, hot Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, grilled red onions and fresh basil!

And make sure you take a chance to check out Bloodhorse and their semi new record "Horizoner" (although, all of their recordings are choice) at http://www.myspace.com/bloodhorse and at http://www.translationloss.com

This is one of the most appealing sounding burgers of the months that they've had in a long time. Looking forward to trying it.

There was actually a pizza burger briefly offered at Kuma's back in 07. I forget the obscure (Italian?) metal band it was named after. As pizza burgers are my favorite type of burger, I'm tempted to try the BOTM. Probably won't happen though, as I don't cotton to crowds, and it's too danged cold to wait in line outside for food.

If you're achin for a really good pizza burger, after the holiday crowd settles down (which i thought would be today, seeing as it's Monday. At 1:30pm there was an hour and half wait...weird) you can get away with little to no wait during the weekdays in between the hours of about 2-330 from my experience. I eat there every other tuesday with a buddy of mine and we typically walk right in a belly up to the bar no problem.

Says it's just the Kuma Burger. I don't know if that's updated though.

Panther beat me to it...but the best bets for finding out the new burger each month are via the myspace page or eyewitness reports.

I think the featured burger on the website has always been the Kuma, even back at the old site...

Ah, yes. On my (semi) recent visits I used the same strategy. Never had a problem bellying up to the bar by myself, between 2 and 4 PM. Unfortunately, I work the "banker's hours" and it's unlikely to happen this month. Makes me wonder if they're serving carryouts again nowadays?

Its my understanding that Kumas offers carry-out as long as their patio is closed. When i stopped in on that oddly busy Monday afternoon I was given wait times for both a table and carry-out, (hour and half, forty-five minutes respectively) so if you do order carry-out, might want to plan ahead for that.

The Trib reported today that Lady Gaga was at Kuma's over the weekend and posted something on Twitter about it. Either this is the best pub for the bar ever and they take advantage of it or the metal heads who stuck with the place will turn on it.

Somebody put this photo on Twitter. I guess that's her. Actually looks normal.

from the trib: A manager at the notoriously crowded Logan Square restaurant told me Gaga waited for a seat just like everybody else and eventually found a spot at the bar.

Went back to Kuma's today around 2pm for the first time in about six months. Looked to be about a half hour wait but we found seats at the bar right away. I enjoyed the fresh chips but my Iron Maiden was a bit disappointing today. It seemed as though the burger had been sitting around for a bit before it made its way to us, which didn't help, and it was soggier than usual and slightly under-seasoned. My husband's burger was similarly off. I kept waiting for the "Aaaah, Kuma's" moment, but it didn't quite happen today. On the other hand, the bartender was great as always,, apparently the Buffalo Trace on tap was fantastic and it's still one of my favorite places to spend a few afternoon hours.

No Lady Gaga, Ali Larter or any other celebutard sightings but i did have my first Kuma experience (Mac and cheese with bacon, carmelized onions and green onions, Kaijo burger (blue cheese, bacon and onion crisps with a side of buffalo sauce-- was on the fence about ordering the Metallica!) a Gumball Head, Alpha King and an Allagash White (we had a long wait) and it was phenomenal. No hyperbolic description needed. Just perfection.

I had the Bloodhorse last night. Carryout, ready for pickup 30 minutes after my call, and cooked medium as ordered. Truly one of the best burgers I've ever had. Take that with a grain of salt, as I love pizza burgers, and don't get around much.

Went for lunch yesterday with some people who work at Food Network. They pulled some strings to get us a reserved table (Food Network has been very kind to them). So Lady Gaga* had to wait but we didn't. At about 11:45 on Friday, the place was completely full. There was a wait but it wasn't too bad - maybe an hour. When we left around 1:30, it seemed about the same.

I was thinking of getting the Bloodhorse pizza burger but opted for the Iron Maiden. First, though, came the "pork fries" (pulled pork, waffle fries, and cheese). It's a monstrosity that was a good appetizer for four people.

The Iron Maiden: Pepper Jack, Avocado, Cherry Peppers, Chipotle Mayo. The burger was cooked perfectly medium. The peppers added kick but that avocado cooled it nicely.

I paired all that with a nice Belgian tripel that I can not remember the name of. Then I went back to work and took a Zantac.

*Lady Gaga is not a celebutard. That term was coined to describe Paris Hilton and her ilk (she was a celebutante but her dumb antics made the "tard" appropriate." Lady Gaga is whacky and I am not that into her music but she's a trained musician. She'd be hard to recognize without all of her make-up and crazy outfits, though.

Made the maiden voyage to Kuma's today. Great tips from this board on when to go, what and how to order, etc.

Got there at 11:05 a.m. and was the third group in line. By 11:30 there were about 30 people there and everyone was seated immediately who was there at the open.

Although I don't mind loud music, I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. The music was indeed heavy metal, but it wasn't overpowering to a point that was distracting or interfered with the conversation. I was expecting a lot worse. Unless you're totally lame and a chip on your shoulder, I can't imagine many people who would be bothered by it.

Service was excellent, with none of the attitude that some claim to have experienced. Between this and the decent volume on the music, I was 2 for 2 on overcoming any concerns some middle aged dude from the suburbs might have. The Gumballhead on tap helped too.

The calamari appetitzer was something I've never experience before. Along with fried rings of squid were fried pieces of red pepper, jalapenos, lemons and rosemary. These weren't garnish, they were part of the fried food and all mixed in. Outstanding! Never in a million years would I think to eat fried fresh rosemary, but it was all awesome.

As for the burgers . . . Perfection. Had the YOB (smoked gouda, bacon, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic mayo) and the Lair of the Minotaur (caramelized onions, pancetta, brie, bourbon soaked pears). The latter was my favorite of the two. Asked for them medium and got both of them . . . medium.

Next time the kids (who all have their old man's food bent) are coming, as there were at least five kids at other tables.

One thing I did find funny was the people behind me who asked for a table for 11, to which the hostess responded, "Then you'll have to go to another restaurant." Max is 6. The people took it in stride and had a loud and great time.

I don't think I'll be putting Megadeth on my iPod any time soon, but I can hang with people who do who make some incredible food.

I had that calamari Tuesday night, and was equally surprised. I could literally eat a whole batch of fried cherry peppers and lemon wheels. Perfect batter, great mild aioli, too. The problem is, I'm a lifetime member of the clean plate club, so piling a full burger (this time I had the Pantera) on top of a healthy portion of fried joy left me quite on the full side.
