Yeah. While we were watching it, I said a sentence to cookie that I'm sure I've never said before:

"Do you want to fly to Utah for some carne adobado and shrimp burritos?"

Well, I drove 2.5 hours east to Salt Lake City on Christmas Eve for dinner at the Red Iguana. And the moles and the salsas were among the best I have ever had.

I avoid the overpriced ski resorts at all costs and have never had any problem finding excellent food throughout Utah. There are a lot of "mom and pops" in and around the downtown and University areas in Provo started up by immigrants.

It's actually WaSC and it stands for Wiener and Still Champion, hotdog joint in Evanston -- owned by LTHForum.com member gp60004 -- that's a favorite of many around here.

    Hi,

When you went to http://www.myspace.com/wienerandstillchampion Was it a blank yellow page? I have a fairly high speed connection, I had a wait longer than usual for the goods to pop up.

    New menu: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... =397738536

    Secret menu: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... =451857296

You might want to ask Gus directly about bringing wine.

    Regards,

Also if you peruse this thread you might find some super secret menu items. :) You might have to call first for those items.

The MySpace page works you just have to wait for it to load.

Sorry I wasn't clearer on the phone.

As for the wine, I really don't see a problem unless there is a regulation that I'm missing. Not sure what wine goes with Burgers and Fries but Boones Farm Strawberry Hill does pair well with the Country Fried Bacon.

Hey Gus, I've been looking forward for a trip to Evanston and checking your highly regarded place out. Unfortunately work has me tied down. Quick question - is your country fried bacon available off your "secret menu" anytime I come in or is it one of the items I'd have to arrange for ahead of time?

    Thanks,
    Rich

The Country Fried Bacon is available on the regular menu. So you don't have to make any special arrangements. .

As for the other "secret"item, it is best to ask for em when I'm there as I am the only one that knows how to prepare em.

Great! My brother just moved back from LA and we're thinking about doing a Dempster St. hot dog joint run, but we really have our eye on your place! We lived on Enfield (near Dempster and Crawford) many years ago and we were near all those joints (Poochie's, Herm's, Irving's/Mages, etc). :)

In case you just haven't had enough of Guy

UNLV graduate, chef and TV personality Guy Fieri of The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives has landed host duties on a new NBC primetime game show. Titled Minute to Win It, the program will debut on March 14. Guy will serve as master of ceremonies to lead competitors through a series of simple yet nerve-wracking games that has a payday of $1 million.

Great, I've always thought that DDD would be better if they just got rid of the food parts. Pure Guy! Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
