New Iraqi (Assyrian?) restaurant somewhat obscured by its surroundings on Western just south of Devon on the west side of the street. Looks like they have masgouf.

To give it some "context" there are a lot of Iraqis and Assyrians in Chicago. Especially since the war. Refugees. Now there are more Iraqi (Assyrian?) restaurants.

Looking forward to giving them a try as I pass by that stretch of Western twice a day.

Paris Café opened recently on Clark St just north of Chicago Ave, next door to Panang Thai.

Not a lot of info to be found about this place yet - the linked Center Stage site is pretty much the best I could find. I passed by on the Clark bus a couple weeks ago and saw an "Open" sign, a "Free Wi-Fi" sign, and a very bored-looking guy wearing an apron & looking out the front window...sadly, the place was otherwise empty. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go check it out soon.

Buffalo Wild Wings just opened a new location yesterday in Willowbrook. It is located in the Willowbrook Town Center shopping center located at the SE corner of Route 83 and Plainfield Road. Other mediocre chain restaurants in the shopping center include Starbucks, Panera Bread, Portillo's, Barnelli's Pasta Bowl and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Just a reminder that the specific reason this thread was reopened/re-inaugurated was to provide updates on openings and closings of restaurants. Extended discussion about the restaurants and tangential commentary should be placed in other, more appropriate threads. Thanks -- so far, our more focused approach to this thread seems to be working fairly well.

In case anyone's planning to stop by tonight . . .

I poked my head in to grab a menu and check out the space on the walk home. Tonight is by invite only.

Will post more details in an L&E thread.

The Trib's local section reports that the family that owns Emil's pizza place in Mundelein will be opening a second location in Grayslake in late January. Sounds like a great way to wind up a trip to the farmer's market there.

I'm pretty sure the marquee says the 25th, as does the website. That date has already been pushed back once, two weeks ago the marquee said they were going to open on the 18th.

Even though it is just steps from my house, it will be months before I try it out, damn diet.

Lockdown Bar is opening Monday and I checked they posted the final menu and concert DVD schedule on the website. www.lockdownbar.com

I have walked by a couple times and the doors were open for private events and Menu tastings and it looked really cool with smoke and Laser lights. The beer list looks good for the West Side and the Menu sounds good also and Urbandaddy had a article with some cool pics as well http://www.urbandaddy.com/chi/food/8561 ... illage_Bar

I will check it out next week and report

The pan-Asian place at Oakton & River in Des Plaines is gone. Today they installed a sign for "Cuzzin's: Italian Comfort Food". It looked like it was already open or else maybe they just did a test run with friends and family, because it was full of people when I drove by in the evening.

Accent Cafe, 700 N River in Mt Prospect, is no more.
No big loss -- their focus on eastern European food had shifted more and more to disco events.

They have been auctioning/selling off fixtures, ice buckets, half-empty bottles of booze, halloween decorations, art on the wall, chairs, etc. since Thursday. If you go today you may still find something, but there was nothing I wanted yesterday (the kitchen equipment was all sold).

The building looks like it was once a windmill: two tall airy spaces with a place for millwheels at the bottom. I doubt anyone else would be able to open a restaurant there as it's about as non ADA compliant as you can get: stairs everywhere. Odds are it'll get torn down and turned into more condos.
