I enjoyed this interview, which comes from Amazon.com:

I read the article and it looks like his arrogance comes through in this interview too. I lost a lot of respect for Mario when I saw a special on him on FoodTV about 1-1/2 years ago where some culinary students did a blind preparation against his cooks at his restaurant. He came off as being better then thou, and put down these 18 and 19 year olds, saying that his cooks were so much better and really degrading the culinary school students.

Yeah, he may be a great cook, but his personality needs a lot of work.

We should probably drag this sort of thing to the "not food" board, but I'm going to stand up for Mario.

I haven't seen the show you're speaking about, but his "Molto Mario" and "Mario Eats Italy" shows are all about the food, and not about him. His appearances on Iron Chef America haven't been quite Chen Kenichi humble, but they've been respectful and playful. I like the guy. I'm planning to go to one of his restaurants when I'm in NY in June.

Don't get me started on Bobby Flay, though. There's a posterior orifice for ya.

I must back KevinT up on this one..I also have a few choice words about "The Great" Mario....arrogance and extremely egotistcal are a few to get started. I too liked Mario before seeing him on that same Food Network special. He truly degraded those kids he was "supposedly" trying to help. I understand he may be a fantastic chef and may be magical in his creations BUT...I don't care how talented you are or WHO you are...there is NO need to ever treat anyone like the way he treated those kids. I have abosolutly no respect for that man. Sorry about my ranting...

All that said...I am sure he is a talented chef and from all the buzz his restaurants are supposed to be spectacular.
