Apparently, there used to be a vegan restaurant called Alice & Friends in this location. The owners of that place have been converted to disciples of the Supreme Master, whose goal is to help the world find a "more noble way of living." By running the chain of restaurants as a not-for-profit business, the Master hopes to expedite the world's conversion to veganism by keeping prices on soy protein and other menu items accessibly low.

Alice and Friends/Vegan Hut has always the followed the precepts of Supreme Master Ching Hai, who, accordingly to this thread at a vegan site, is known as "Cha-Ching Hai" for the wealth she has amassed off her followers and her businesses...

It is only a matter of time before this "not-for-profit" is acquired by private equity that more efficiently and more (non)profitably spreads the word of the Supreme Master. At which time, of course, the quality of soy will have dimished greatly as the private equity finds cheaper, but lesser quality, sources of soy protein. Go there now, while you can still get good seitan turkey sandwiches.

This has been in our rotation for a long time. While we were always a bit put off by the television in the "anteroom" running a video constantly, we were always seated in the dining room where, I've gotta say, the food (except for one brief hiatus) has always been excellent. We've noticed the changes but haven't been lately. But I would have no hesitation whatsoever in returning. The food has always been made from very fresh ingredients, expertly seasoned, and a pleasure to eat.
