    Hi,

I have noticed some Chinese restaurants commenting on their menu they cook in vegetable oil.

    Regards,

If you are not under a budget, I bet Shanghai Terrace in the Peninsula Hotel would take care of you.

My niece has a peanut allergy, but we still had a birthday dinner for her at Chef Ping. I don't know how severe your peanut allergy is, and we are still trying to figure out how severe her allergy is. LTHForum thread here.

My daughter has life threatening peanut allergies. We mostly go to New Star in Elmwood Park. She doesn't like Chinese food, so it works for us. She gets steamed rice.

I spoke with the owner about the peanuts in the kitchen - he assured me that they don't use peanut oil and they use vegetable oil. My concern is cross contamination. Those peanut sauces scare the heck out of me - who's to say they are washing the wok/pan after each use.

So my daughter happily sits and eats her white steamed rice with soy sauce while the EPI pen is on the table.

My son also has a peanut allergy and we have had success at both The Phoenix and Sun Wah. I speak to Julie or Bob at the Phoenix or Kelly at Sun Wah right when we get there and let them know the severity of the situation and let them take over from there. My only real concern is the language barrier and dealing directly with either Julie, Bob or Kelly alleviates my concerns.
