They aren't in the same neighborhood. Felony Franks is down on the border of East Garfield Park and whatever the neighborhood to the west of the United Center is called these days (United Center Park?), and Lockdown is on the border of the Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park.

Chaise Lounge is now closed. It's re-concepting as The Southern - a Southern style bar with chef Cary Taylor still in the kitchen - on Feb 5. TimeOut has a blurb up on the changes right here: http://www3.timeoutny.com/chicago/blog/ ... -revealed/ (Note: Neither Chaise Lounge nor The Southern are clients of mine)

I spoke to the manager at Specialty's Cafe today after a delivery mix-up. She mentioned that they would be opening a new location at 525 W. Monroe in the spring (which is right across the street from my office, dangerously enough).

    Their original location in Chicago:

I just went to take my daughter out to lunch at Caldwell Kitchen and Tap (close to work, decent menu),
and to my disgust, they are closed, with signs up,
    opening soon.

    Opening soon??
I even checked the website before we went to make sure they were open on a monday- oh well-silly me!

It was reported earlier that they will most likely be reopening late Jan, early Feb with a new owner as the previous one retired.

The space just north of the Francisco Brown Line stop, formerly occupied by Kitchen Chicago, is papered over and prominently featuring signs touting First Slice Pie Cafe (part of the not-for-profit First Slice, which cooks meals for the homeless and needy). I presume (hope!) this is going to be a new, third outpost for the cafe, whose main location is in the Lillstreet Art Center at Ravenswood and Montrose, and who opened a second location at Water Tower Pumping Station. First Slice also sells foodstuffs at the Downtown Farmstand.

El Rey del Taco, the local home of my beloved tacos pioneros (bacon, al Pastor, carmelized onions and melted cheese inside a grilled flour torilla) is now under new ownership. It is now called Cardanas restaurant (I think). I quickly perused the menu and saw no more Pioneros, Sincronizados or Gringas listed :( .

No, you are correct. The newer location is (or apparently was) the one at 410 Sheridan -- near Curry Hut.

The Highwood location is definitely closed. Construction is going on in the space for a "new" restaurant. No clue as to what it will be. We had a bit of a language barrier.
