If we need a ruling on latex I can bring in my friend Laura, owner/designer of Vex Clothing. (Vex sells and designs latex clothing and may be a bit 'adult' for some.)

Classmates want to go here after our biochem exam next week. Estimated wait time on a Thursday around noon for 8+ persons? We don't mind splitting up. Would the wait be less if we went around 4:30pm/5pm instead? We'd go at 11am before they open if we could but at that time we'll be busy contemplating DNA double helices, the hydrophobic effect, electron pushing mechanisms. etc lol Thanks!

Noon will be more crowded then 3-4 pm on a normal weekday. I've never been as late as 5 because i'm scared of the potential dinner crowd and i usually have to be at work by then anyway.

8 people will split you guys up pretty significantly in terms of timing. I'm fairly certain based off multiple people's reviews that they don't combine tables and limit the groups to 4 (true?)

A good Kumas experience is one when you're with one other person bellying up to the bar in the mid afternoon - i have a feeling this would probably be an event for you guys. Unless of course you guys don't mind standing around drinking beers and eating out of turn - after a test that doesn't seem like too bad a time to me.

Usually you can get the update on their MySpace Blog but the chef has already posted it on his Twitter account.

Kuma's Corner March special, The RUSH. 10oz patty served w/toasted white bread, chipped beef gravy and fries. Get. It.

I went for the 1st time yesterday ( all burgers are available on a Gardenburger  ).

We arrived before the doors opened. At 11:32 am all tables were occupied and there were 4 seats available at the bar.

Can't wait to go back. I couldn't finish my Plague burger, but I yelped because it actually was hot. I almost never get spicy food that's actually spicy.

    Plus they have RC Cola.

I went for the first time Monday afternoon to celebrate a friend's two-year cancer-free anniversary (the guy doing hindu squats out front). Twas delighted to find JK Scrumpy's available, as it's been my drink of choice for the past few months.

But I posted because I believe the menu also pointed out there being peas included in the chipped beef on the RUSH, and that wasn't noted above.

I take it that's supposed to be something like poutine on the burger then to pay homage to Rush being Canadian?

Personally, I would have gone with a burger with a small amount of like 10 different things on it plus some stinky cheese. Thus, like Rush, it would be overly complicated and the loudest ingredient (Geddy Lee's voice or the stinky cheese) would be highly polarizing and cause some people to hate the burger.

This reminds me of my "brilliant" idea for a Kuma's burger. A boneless buffalo chicken wing laid on top of a couple of potato skins with some melted cheese in them, and slices of cheddar, swiss, pepper jack and american cheeses. I give you the DEF LEPPARD: cheesy as hell and one arm on the skins.

And how are those btw? My father is vegetarian but I think he would enjoy the flavor combinations that Kuma's comes up with so long as the garden burger patty is pretty good as well. Are they homemade?

I'm not a fan of most "homemade" veggie burgers. I find they tend to taste of a big old grilled oatmeal patty, blech! I prefer boca or garden burger's black bean. The burger at Kuma's was neither of the these, but I want to go back so it's okay.

Went last night.FYI the bar is available for food, so just look around for who seems to be about finished & hover over them. We were seated at the bar in about 45 minutes. 2nd trip in about 2 weeks.

This time I had the Neurosis, again as a Garden Burger. Again I could only eat half. I thought I wouldn't like the Pretzel bun but it is softer that I imagined & has a lovely sheen. That said, it didn't get soggy. Additionally, we ordered the mac & cheese with sun-dried tomatoes & caramelized onions. We even shared it with a bar mate who wondered out loud why she didn't get the mac & cheese to her dining companion. She loved it.

People were friendly & patent. I look forward to trying the Iron Maiden v.v. soon.

I have seen that video 3x and I notice something new every time. I love the "told you she didn't have a d*ck" - a reference to rumors about Gaga's gender. Anyway, it's like Kuma's: references to pop culture, confounding combinations, and something new every time. Isn't a 2 hour wait for a burger like a 10min music video?

I have new-found admiration for Bon Appetit magazine's Andrew Knowlton. He was just here on some manner of culinary fact-finding mission, and from what I can figure out, managed to dine at both Kuma's and Edzo's on the same day. Whoa. That's pretty hard-core.

I've had the pulled pork on the "pork fries" (pulled pork and cheese on top of waffle fries) as an appetizr. I found it to be sweet not spicy.

As for changes, I think you would be fine to omit an item and most condiments come on the side. However, substitutions are strongly discouraged. Don't try to swap swiss for cheddar or add roasted peppers to burger that doesn't come with roasted peppers.

I went Saturday night. They are no longer doing a burger of the month. They did drop a few things & add a few specials they thought were popular.
