recommendations for Antioch

I am going to the Antioch Bowling Lanes on ‎ Sunday. I was looking for a decent sit down restaurant for 6 guys (dinner).

I did a search and found Thirsty Turtle and Johnny’s Chophouse. Both of these were 2009 postings. From their web site they both look like they are open on Sunday. From 2006 I saw a posting about a German restaurant in Antioch called Mark’s Wunder-Bar, but I can’t find any current info as to whether it is still open or not.

Anybody have any thoughts on these or others. Given my group I don’t think I could talk them in to driving more than a couple of miles from the lanes.

We have a summer place just north of antioch in wisconsin. I have tried several places in antioch for dinner and nothing is exciting, including Johnny's Chop House. I would reccomend driving ten minutes to wadsworth road and 41 and going to The Shanty. I find it to be the best restaurant in the immediate area and a good bang for the buck. I have had a bunch of guys dinners there and we always have fun.

The Shanty was the first place I thought of, but 2 guys rejected it as too far to drive. So I guess I am stuck with what’s there.

Captain Porky’s if this is the one in Zion. Then it is way too far. As I said I doubt the guys would go more than 3 or 4 miles from the bowling alley.

that's too bad. i routinely go an hour or more out of my way to partake in captain porky's awesome fried gulf shrimp and their great rib tips.

If the guys are not willing to travel far, then going to Johnny's Chophouse is the way to go. I was there once after a meeting and have hoped to bring the Moms ever since.

If they were willing to travel and go 12 miles to the west, then Richmond Hunting Club. They have extended hours during the hunting season, I would call to check they are open when you intend to visit.

Fourteen miles away (just north of Richmond) in Genoa City, WI, there is a restaurant featuring fishboils. Call to reconfirm hours because it's been a while since I was last there.

There's always Sequoit Lodge on Main Street in Antioch (in town), north of Rt 173.

They have nice TVs, really good burgers, cold draft beer, and a lodge type atmosphere. They are open on Sundays. Owned by a Cubs fan

FYI - The Thirsty Turtle has some great sandwiches as well; the smoked ones are real good. I LOVE their smoked turkey. They also are right on Channel Lake so you can probably watch the ice fishermen and snowmobilers.

I've had good food at both these places and the people we've brought to them have enjoyed them as well.
