We need a sanitary and hopefully compostable way to hold a school-wide tasting event - does anybody know where I can get the little condiment cups used for in-store ketchup service in fast food places? If they can be bought in smaller quantities than a case, that would be good - also, I'd prefer to find them somewhere that doesn't require a membership or business license (apparently Costco doesn't carry them anyway?)

Alliance, not much to look at from the outside, or inside for that matter, but great prices on all things disposable. Mainly for the food service industry, though no membership or business license require. Not sure if they sell in small quantities, how many were you looking for?

    Bonus, mere steps from Graziano's

Hey Michele, you're looking for compostable portion cups - probably a 2 ounce size - made out of corn/PLA. You can easily find them online or hopefully Alliance or Bloom can special order them for you.

I am looking for good-looking candy boxes-- would either of these be a good bet? I love places like this, so I may check them out anyway.

Also on Randolph is Andrew's Paper Supply Co. They sell to the public (not just wholesale) but they do have minimums i.e. you need to buy a case or sometimes if they are in a cheery mood, a sleeve of something.

Close by is MK Brody which is a novelty/school fair/bingo supply/party warehouse/plastic crap extravaganza kind of store. But they have odd bibs and bobs and so the poster asking about candy boxes might find them there. (And I wouldn't be surprised if they had the little paper condiment cups Mhays is asking about.)

Check out Nashville Wraps (online). They have a lot of great boxes, including many compostable/greener ones.

Was really thinking paper, originally, and you guys made me think about it and do some more research. I found these 4 oz cups - I think the size will be a little more flexible for us - and they're made from sugarcane, a by-product of sugar production. Apparently they break down in about 90 days, which makes them even better than some of the other compostable items which can take a whole year.
