Memphis in August

After a great 3 day bbq eating trip to Kansas City 2 years ago we want to try Memphis this summer. Guidebooks seem few and far between, so I've been searching online for restaurant info. ALOT of places mentioned! Guess we will have 2 full days to eat there, plus a breakfast the morning we leave. We will be going to and from Chicago, via Champaign, so stops along the way would be helpful as well.

I've seen mentioned for BBQ--BBQ Shop, Bobs Barskdale, Paynes, Neeleys, Central, Gridleys, Bozos inMason, Rendezvous, Corkys, The Cupboard and The Four Way. Among others.

For other food also Uncle Lous, Bryants, Restaurant Iris and Burger Boy in London.

Thoughts, comments, other suggestions?

Also, as I'm familiarizing with the area, a nice place to stay, 3 star type...Will visit Graceland and tour downtown Memphis while were not eating.

i would rec. that you hit beale st. .
memphis is also a great music town . there are some place's on beale st also pig, bb kings ,sully's all great place's for food & music.
i love memphis . i will be there in mid may for bbq contest(memphis in may )
