the other night a friend mentioned that she planned to stop at la pa on her way home from my house to pick up tacos for her husband. i said, "what's la pa?". "oh, that's what everyone calls la pasadita".
well, i've been eating there, and living nearby for many years and never heard it called that before. (i've always referred to it as 'taco jail', because of the bars on the windows; but that's just my own nickname for it.) any thoughts? is my friend living in her own world, or have i missed this alternative name all these years? thanks, justjoan

Seems to me, back when I lived near there (a couple of decades ago), I heard the place referred to as 'La Pasa', but never simply 'La Pa'. That is so totally Raech.

I've never heard "La Pa" either. The folks I know who live close by usually just drop the "La" and call it "Pasadita" (except for a couple of the hardcore, life-long Chicagoans in that group, who call it "Pasadita's").

"La Pa" sounds like something people who call pizza "za" would say.

I don't mean to be rude but your friend is probably criminally insane

you could be right, but i won't tell her you said that. thanks for the responses, all of you. i was pretty sure it was something she made up and that it wasn't as common as she thought. i'll continue to affectionately refer to it as taco jail, but won't expect others to know what i mean. justjoan

I heard of that. I knew a person who wrote a short review on it and called it La Pa. Saves print space. 8)
