Despite my best intentions, I haven't been to Maxwell Street Market for quite some time - and their GNR is now up for renewal. Besides, I haven't had a good eyeball or brain in a monkey's age. I'm definitely searching out the Montalayo taco, along with some kind of soup. Please post if you plan to join me - even last-minute, I'll have the 'spouse text me if he sees latecomers posting.

Sunday, March 21 at 11:30am – Rain or Shine
In front of the Red "Maxwell Street Market" sign at the northwest corner of Des Plaines and Roosevelt Roads - we'll head off to explore at about 11:40, because standing still in this weather sounds unpleasant, so please be prompt (note to self: you, too.)

Check out the Maxwell St thread and the links therein for info on parking, etc.

D'oh! Can't make it. You think you might do this again later this year?

    Hi,

I am escorting guests from California tomorrow. One of them is dying to do all food things. While I know at least two from this party would dig this. There are these other four people who just may veto it.

I might surprise you, and myself, and be there tomorrow.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I can't imagine your expedition will last more than 2 hours, but I was planning on having lunch tomorrow at Maxwell St. Market at around 12:30 (can't get there any earlier, unfortunately). I'll be on the lookout though in case any LTHers really linger.

    Hi,

I just got my marching orders. I will be nowhere near Maxwell St. tomorrow morning.

I'm sorry, because it sounds very appealing to me.

    Regards,

H_s, since it seems like just you and me, I can be a bit flexible with the time; I want some time to tour the market and see if things have changed as much as has sometimes been reported - what if I say I'll be there at 11:30, and we'll meet for lunch at the tail end? I"ll PM you my cell phone so we can find each other. I have something else scheduled in the afternoon, so I'll have to take off right after lunch.

Pie Lady, no worries, there are 2 more Sundays left before GNR renewal discussion closes. I can't make either of the other two, but I'd imagine that the market will be much more pleasant - why don't you schedule another event when you're free?

Sounds good. Can someone please point me to the newest Maxwell St. guide? I don't think I'm looking at the most recent one, and my search faculties are somewhat impaired right now. I know bike parking there like the back of my hand, but I'll be driving there for the first time tomorrow and am a complete parking idiot. I need to read all the tips available. Thanks.

    Hi,

David Hammond prepared revised the guide when he guided guests from Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance's tour of Maxwell Street. It is current as of mid-October: http://www.greatermidwestfoodways.com/d ... 009-10.pdf

David visited the market several weeks in a row to update it, which was really great for everyone involved.

    Regards,

Thank you. That's exactly the update I was thinking of. My apologies for my late-night Scotch-induced search laziness.

David's incredibly useful update is up on LTHForum as well.

Thanks for all the hard work and effort David, your guide makes the Maxwell Street Market all that more accessible to many of us.
