Suggestions in Northern Israel

This is a VERY broad question I know, but here goes: we will be in Israel in two weeks and have pretty unstructured plans to spend two days driving around in the northern part of the country. Can anyone recommend exciting restaurant or food experiences that we should work into our plans? No real constraints. We're just looking for a place or two worth going out of the way for. Thanks!

2. Hazan Schawarma – Is the best Shawarma stand in Haifa, and some argue all over Israel. Unlike other Shawarma places, Hazan’s Shawarma is made from a mixture of Beef, Turkey and spices, and is located on 140 Jaffa st. in the lower city.

3. Jakko Seafood Restaurant – Jakko is located on #12 Kehilat Saloniki st. in Haifa.

4. there are two roads that go from haifa to tel aviv, the coastal road, and the old road. to the east of the old road is a third road, that goes through isfayya and daliya - israeli arab towns. on that road are a lot of resterounts that have seating on their large lawns. they serve meat and mezza. eating at one of those is a real experience.

5. magdal shams in the golan - there are several small bakeries with fantastic arab style pastries. this is a druze village.

Rather than start a new thread, I figured I'd post here although it is somewhat off topic. Last second I will be heading to Tel Aviv for work next week. I have Saturday to myself (not the best day I realize) and am hoping to see/eat some sites. Any suggestions? I won't have a car so destinations need to be cab-able. Any help is appreciated as I've had no time to look into this. Thanks in advance.

I wasn't in Tel Aviv on Saturday, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't shut down the way Jerusalem does. Restaurants we enjoyed in Tel Aviv in the summer of 2008 where Orna & Ella, Betty Ford, Max Brenner's Chocolate, and Goocha. Not sure which ones are still there, but I hope that helps.

some of the best falafel places are closed on saturday, as are the yeminite places. but then they open on saturday night. the resteraints in Jaffa, the arab part of town, are open on saturday. I would very highly recomend the sicillian gelato place on ibn gvirol right by the municipal building/rabin square - I would be comfortable saying that you will get better gelato there than pretty much any place in the US.

there are several other good places open on ibn gvirol and ben yehuda on saturday. if you aren't locked into israeli food, giraffe is a good asain noodle place, the brasarie on ibn gvirol is nice.
