ThaiWay is located on Weber Road in Romeoville, a block north of Romeo Rd (135th St), at the site of the former KT Thai.

:x I'll cut to the chase: we went there tonight and ThaiWay is the worst Thai food we've ever had.

We started with Tom Kha Gai. It contained mushrooms, chicken, and absolutely nothing else. No lemon grass. No galangal. No lime leaves. The soup itself was sickly sweet. It was so sweet I half expected to find crystalized sugar on the bowl. We had to send it back.

Next came a replacement soup, the Tom Yum. Rather darkly-colored for a Tom Yum, it also contained mushrooms, chicken, and absolutely nothing else. But rather than being loaded with sugar, it was overly salted.

Finally (shudder), the entrees: Pad See Ew and a Green Curry. We chose Pad See Ew with beef. It was an unappealing pile of mushy, overcooked noodles with the beef, accompanied by carrots and a bit of broccoli (regular, not raab). The Green Curry, which we ordered with eggplant and tofu, was spicy hot and salty but had almost no green curry flavor. It was also quite greasy.

Clearly, the "chef" lacks basic cooking skills.

In it's former incarnation as KT Thai, this restaurant was quite attractive inside. Now, it is a pale shadow of that, sparsely decorated with cheap Thai travel posters and lit with all the ambience of a parking lot. Which might be forgivable, if only the food were not downright awful. If you're in that general area I would certainly recommend Thai Happiness or Tha O'Cha in Darien over this place, hands-down, even though IMO they're somewhat mediocre themselves.
