I'm scrambling to find a good place to go for a medium size group of people. Parameters are:

    - Evanston area (we'll be at a trade show 1774 W. Lunt Avenue)
    - small group, probably 10-15 at most
    - not rowdy or loud
    - not overly expensive
    - Friday night, if that matters

    Any suggestions?

A while since I've been, but Gruppo di Amici seems a good fit.

Uncommon Ground on Devon might work too.

Just a few blocks south of where you will be is Masouleh - a Persian BYOB place. The restaurant is small but they do take reservations. They have the standard kabobs, but also in my opinion some more unique dishes particularly on the vegetarian portion of the menu. It is also the type of food that if you wanted to share, it is quite amenable but also works for everyone having their own individual dishes.

    Thanks everybody.

Unfortunately the first couple ideas are too high priced. The Middle Eastern one is out because I'm Lebanese and a Middle Eastern food snob :P

The group is leaning toward Giordano's! Not what I would pick for sure but I'm just one person. I'm pretty anti-chain.

Something along the lines of Hopleaf might be all right but they are probably going to be swamped.

    Giordano's stuffed pizza! Yum!!!

    Two tips...

    1. The Giordano's location on Sheridan Road is closer to the trade show (it's less than a mile away) than the one in Evanston.

    2. You can phone ahead with your pizza order to avoid waiting 30-45 minutes while seated for your pizzas to bake.

Union in Evanston is a good option.

Tapas Barcelona in Evanston is lots of fun for a smaller-medium group.
There are many interesting food choices as well, and I always love the nibbling philosophy.
Plus they have white sangria in addition to red...
I could make a meal on the bacon wrapped dates alone.
    yummmm

It fails the "not rowdy or loud" criterion. It's not rowdy, but it's pretty darn loud.
