    Hi,

I am shopping for a BBQ caterer, whom you genuinely feel the food is worthwhile. Let's consider this as a database, so even if this firm may not be disposed to come to the northern suburbs, they may fit someone's needs.

    Thanks!

What are you hoping to have catered? I find this an odd question coming from you, who not only knows how to bbq, but already knows several people on the list who might be capable of doing the job.

    Steve,

I understand the source of your question. I am involved in a fundraiser where at our last meeting it was proposed frozen canapes from Costco, cheese and two-buck chuck from Trader Joes which "Tastes great and nobody will notice." They don't quite know my background and how their ideas left me quietly cringing. I'm going to be fielding ideas related to this in the near future.

I am trying to present a few ideas to broaden their thinking. I can give them cost proposals for a BBQ. If it is in the right price range, then maybe they'll leap at that. Yes, I could do it, probably do a fine job and may in the end will do it. However, I will be happy to guide the horse to water and let THEM drink!

My original thought was to simply contact asking Gary who caters his neighborhood block party. I'd have the answer but nobody here would have it to reference in the future. I also know Captain Porky in Zion caters BBQ and certainly there is Hillery's in Waukegan.

    Cathy,

Chuck, of Chucks's BBQ, where we are having an LTHForum dinner this Friday, catered our neighborhood block party, 140-people, 5-6 years in a row and did a wonderful job.

Fair price, great food, much of it cooked on the spot, efficient, happy to accommodate requests, just an all-around pleasant experience.

There are still a few places open for the Chuck's LTHForum dinner, which is being put together by Suzy/Sdritz. We have 20 at present and it will be a very enjoyable evening.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

    Cathy,

It couldn't hurt to call some of the Chicago BBQ institutions (Barbara Ann's- Honey 1), or even better, stop by and talk to them in person to inquire about the possibility of catering your event. The worst thing that can happen is that they aren't interested, but hey--the other side of the coin is that they are, and you get to have BA's or H1 at your party!
