Guillermo Klein & Los Guachos - "Filtros"
-Klein with a sort-of big band doing his unique version of Latin jazz. IMO, this is one of the ten best jazz albums of the last ten years.
    Calexico - "Feast of Wire"
-An alt-country band heavily influenced by the mariachi and Tejano of their native Tuscon. My favorite album by one of my favorite bands.
    Epstein/Shepik/Kilmer - "Lingua Franca"
-A few of the more inventive musicians on the scene. They have a sort of world folk sound infused into a jazz album. Fun album.
    Matthew Halsall - "Colour Yes"
-Halsall has a warm sound on his trumpet. Just a real pretty album by a new guy on the scene.

I can't get enough of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Best remake of the 21st Century.

Just reminds me of being at grandma's in Harlowe, NC as a kid. Dying from the heat because she didn't believe in using AC. Blueberry dumplings, shrimp with rice(no grits because this is coastal carolina), chiltlins, biscuits, crab, & hot applesauce, eggs, sausage, hot tea with plenty of milk & sugar, & OJ for breakfast promptly followed by a nap while she cleared the kitchen & started dinner (served at 2 pm).

Robbie Fulks - "Happy." All Michael Jackson covers. I paid $3.98 for it this morning on Amie St. Quite possibly one of the best bargains I've scored. Get it before it gets too hot - it's all the way up to $4.08 now...

Interesting, I think I actually like Strummer more for the influence he spread, than his actual music. Admittedly I don't know that album, or The Mescaleros years, but a feeling all the same.

But after listening to a bunch of Gucci Mane tracks on lala.com, I've come to two conclusions: 1) Jay-Z sounds positively tame in comparison, and 2) I'm gonna have to grab some Gucci Mane tracks when I get home. Thanks for the heads up!
