If Persian style fare is an option, I'd be thinking about that Reza's on Cermak in Oak Brook. While I love the things I love at Reza's, I have found that IMO, their vegetarian "stew" type dishes are not to my liking. Do not miss:
Mushrooms appetizer. I'd get one order for every two ppl if you like mushrooms. They are not stuffed or anything, just grilled, and brushed with this light lemon, garlic, and olive oil sauce that I really dig.
Vegetarian shami - these are just falafel in a pomegranite/walnut sauce. My wife cannot stop eating those when ordered. The menu makes them sound like they are some kind of special fancy different thing than falafels, but they are just falafels in fancy sauce. Still good.
Grilled quails
Standard mid eastern dips and falafel with pita - I'm more a baba gannouj guy than a hummus guy at Reza's, but whatever.
Meat eaters - dark meat chicken kababs with dill rice. I can't order anything else, although the various kebabs are well received by the ppl I go with - they have tenderloin, shrimp, scallop etc. Oh, they also do whitefish and salmon. There are plenty of vegetarian entree options that I haven't really delved into. The few that I have tried were kinda lifeless, but for standard, mid eastern, dippy fare in a nice room, I like it a lot. And those mushrooms, quail and dark meat chicken are fab, imo.
