The jesteinf So You've Always Wanted to go to Alinea but Don't Have the Cash Plan:

Step 1: Take $2 out of your wallet
Step 2: Repeat Step 1 everyday for a year
Step 3: Make a reservation for 2 at Alinea
    Step 4: Eat at Alinea

You'll even have extra money that you can give to an actual charity that helps people.

I think this concept should be expanded to all threads. Say a $20 minimum to lock down a thread
OP can counter offer to keep it open....

I'd like to take a friend or two to L20 for dinner and I reallly don't want to skimp on the wine - Perhaps 200 LTH'ers can donate $10 each (I promise I'll write about it and post a pic or two).

Wow, I have been away from a computer for the day. Imagine my surprise, upon returning this afternoon, to the change in direction this thread has taken.

I am heartfeltly (to make up my own word) in gratitude to those LTH who have commented on this thread.

I have recently graduated and now work in public interest law. My work is dedicated to those that are in need and for that reason as others have mentioned, I am not the best person for your assistance. While I am not rich, I am in a much better place then many. I would like to stress that I am extremely grateful for the kindness you all have expressed and for that reason I would like to donate a portion from what I sell the gc for, to your efforts.

I fully plan on going to Alinea one day when I am a bit more established in my trade. Until then I will continue to look for the diamonds in the rough like many of you. Thank you once again for the kind welcome you all have given me to this board.

Not going to work for me. Right now, I don't even have a wallet. (It was stolen last week.)
