I've done a site search, and there are a couple of mentions of Ethiopian in Michigan, but no specific recommendations (and one turned out to be coffee), so I figured I'd just ask -- has anyone tried any of the Ethiopian places in suburban Detroit? Google turned up Blue Nile in Ferndale and Taste of Ethiopia in Southfield, but reviews range from great to horrific for both. Anyone know if either is reliably good? Or have other recommendations?
This quest is the result of a phone conversation with mom, who lives in Farmington Hills, after I had Ethiopian food recently. She wants an introduction. Mom figures she has to wait until she moves back to Chicago (assuming the MI house ever sells), but I thought it would be worth finding out if there is anything worth eating in the general vicinity of Farmington Hills.
Of course, any other recommendations would be appreciated, especially if both Ethiopian places are as awful as some of their detractors say. Mom has her favorite places, but I'd love to know if there are other places within perhaps 1/2 an hour of Farmington Hills (but not downtown) that would be fun to take mom. This can be exotic ethnic or simply mighty fine cooking.
Thanks.
