All right, 45 days out now, and time to get serious about planning & getting list together for sides. I believe Mary(The GP) offered to help with the "Who is bringing what" list. Last year it was nice to have it on the thread so folks could spot holes/needs, I am not very computer literate so if someone knows how to do that it would be great.

For those who haven't been following the thread I am going to get a local pig from a Butcher in Morris, planning on a 90-100 lb. hog(depending on final count of attendees). I am going to inject the hog the night before with the marinade/brine, but could use some help, or even just the company of curious folks for some help/company as the pig starts its cook around 8:00 a.m. or so on that Saturday. Shooting to have the pig done around 2:30-3:00 p.m.

Figuring on about $3 per pig eater to cover the cost of the pig, and charcoal for the La Caja I am borrowing from Danny(jhawk). Im not going to go around and collect the $3 per person at the event, but have a coffee can or some other vessel to toss the pig fee in.

    Needs:
    - buffet tables, or tables in general to hold the dishes folks bring
    - beverages, alcohol, water, lemonaide, iced tea, etc.
    - side dishes, appetizers, desserts, bread/rolls for the roast pork
    - a chair for yourself
    - napkins, plates, silverware

Any of the above can be an attendees contribution to the potluck, and all are appreciated.

Ill start it off: I will have at least (1) 6 foot buffet table as well as about a dozen chairs. In addition to the pig I am doing a few slabs of ribs, some ABT's, and perhaps some hot links.

Really looking forward to this event trying the dishes folks bring, and the pig of course.

Jim I can bring a 6 foot table and a cooler full of beverages (beer&soda) I also have some folding chairs. I will probably bring something to cook and a Weber to cook it on depending on my travel schedule that week. Travel will also impact my ability to show up at 8:00 or not. If I dont fly in late on Friday I will be there early on Saturday.

    Jim-

My offer still stands to manage this in a spreadsheet and post it here. You can remove the tentative from my RSVP. Our other possible conflict is no longer an issue. Still not sure what food we'll bring, but we'll bring a 6 foot folding table and a couple of chairs.

spreadsheet is in the works, I have gone through the thread, and started a partial list of what folks are bringing on the thread on the attendees list next to folks names.

To keep the thread manageable folks can PM either me, petite_gourmande, or The GP with what dishes they are bringing, or if there are any changes to what they are bringing, these will be reflected on the spreadsheet once it is posted.

Like last year, I think in typical LTH fashion we will cover all the bases, and have plenty of interesing and good things to eat.

questions, comments etc. can still be asked on the thread.

In order to allow as many interested LTHr's as possible to attend, for those who are already on the attendee list please let me know how many of your "+1's etc". in your party are children under 5 years old. Since kids that age and under wont be consuming much pig I think that will free up some spaces for more LTHr's to attend. Thanks for your help.

Also, I picked up the La Caja last night from Danny @ Toons so I will have a few weeks to practice with it(as well as continue to practice for my first bbq competition the last weekend in May).

Looking forward to this kick-off the summer event quite a bit.

    Sir James,
Do you, by silverware, mean silverware? Or is plastic silverware (plasticware?) acceptable? If so, I am more than happy to bring plasticware, plates, and napkins. (I am presuming that heavy-duty plates are better than the flimsy ones; do you have a preference for cardboard or styrofoam?)

I presumed--based on Jim's response-- that they were not expected to bring plates/napkins for the entire assembled multitudes. However, I certainly defer to them. I will be happy to supplement their supplies or to focus solely on utensils of the plastic variety.
