Mole de Mayo, Year Two, May 8, 2010

Bet you were sad you missed Mole de Mayo last year? Don't do it again. Mole de Mayo is Chicago's only mole competition and a great neighborhood street fest. Here are this year's details and a link to the Facebook page:

I really enjoyed last year's Mole de Mayo and plan to head down there again.

It was a rather chilly day for the second Mole de Mayo. The occasional showers didn't help matters. We sampled dishes from Nuevo Leon, Fig Catering and Mundial Cocina Mestizo and one more I can't remember. Mundial was having problems with their sterno, so our sandwich wasn't warm. My favorite again was the enchilada from Fig, but I did also like the tamale we had at the end from the vendor I can't remember. Mr. X enjoyed both the red and green moles from Nuevo Leon. We lingered under the tent watching the Mexican Dance Ensemble before wandering down 18th for a drink at Simone's. We ended up at Nightwood for an early dinner, capping a nice afternoon in Pilsen.
