My wife enjoyed breakfast this morning at the Milk & Honey Cafe, which recently opened on the north side of Racine. I met the owner, Troy Villapando in March at the Milwaukee Restaurant Show. Troy, a trained chef at the California Culinary Institute, brings years of executive chef experience to a neighborhood that has long awaited a great place for breakfast and lunch. Troy was employed by Wyndham Hotels, the Four Seasons Restaurant In Maui, the John Hancock Building Signature Room, Meadowbrook Country Club, Kenosha County Club, and the Eagle Inn on the Lake in Dover, WI. Most of the ingredients on his menu are produced locally or in Wisconsin. I'll post their website with some photos in the near future. The breakfast menu includes a variety of egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, and French toast. The pancake batter is made daily with a touch of local honey and the French Toast is made using brioche bread, cream, vanilla, and Grand Mariner. The lunch menu includes a variety of Cuban sandwiches, fresh hand patted hamburgers, poboys, Reubens, and assorted salads. My wife and I split a Redneck omelette (southern style stuffed with potatoes and cheddar cheese, smothered with a delicious gravy) and a Mexie Lexie omelette (Spainsh omelette with chorizo, peppers, onions, cheese, and pico de gallo). Both dishes were served with a choice of potato (hash browns, home fries, or grits) and a choice of bread (toast, English muffin or Touch of Honey pancakes) with home made jam. We both opted for the peach and it was outstanding. The Redneck was $4.99 and the Mexie Lexie was $5.50. Our bill with tax was only $14.50, which included tea and coffee. I rarely document an eatery, but this one is just too good to pass. They also offer a Friday fish fry. Besides Kewpee's, Well's Bros, and other various kringle establishments, Racine now has another food stop worth experiencing.

Sounds great. Any idea what kind of fish they fry on Fridays?

Walleye, perch, cod, & shrimp. We're on our way to dinner there right now.
