Went there a few weeks ago. I had the brisket and hot link sandwich. The brisket was excellent; perfectly cooked with the fat cap still on. (I don't like to eat the fat cap but this is the traditional way to serve bbq brisket). I thought the hot link was very good but it definitely had a very unique taste that some people might not like. The sauce was good as well. My friend had a platter of ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was very good, and had the typical smokey flavor. I had baked beans which were also very good.

Now, the ribs. They were terrible. St Louis cut. They were undercooked and therefore very tough. Pretty much inedable. We only ate one or two each and gave up on them. I took them home and fed them to my dog. It's surprising because everything else was good. Maybe this was a bad batch but I have to call 'em like I see 'em and these were terrible.

Overall i'd recommend this place, but try the ribs at your own risk. Like I said maybe I just caught them on an off day for ribs. I won't say it's worth a special trip but if you're in the area (it's next to the Aurora Riverboat Casino) or live near by give it a try.

    Hi,

In search of new BBQ places, I saw this one from last year. I clicked over to the website to learn they have soulfood and BBQ. I saw on the menu they also offer Detroit style Coney dog.

Since this was not a total thumbs down, it may be worthwhile to revisit and see how they have progressed.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Comfort Zone BBQ will be closing its doors December 3rd.

    I'll miss this place.

Enjoyed some of the variety of the catfish Friday's during Lent and was a decent bbq joint after Thomas' BBQ closed down on Montgommery (possible new news on this coming to New York Ave. shortly!)

That makes 2 BBQ joints closed down this year, first the ATown BBQ Shack in the Marathon gas station on New York, and now Comfort Zone BBQ on Restaurant Row in Downtown Aurora.

So the options are escaping fast, with only Vic & Rick's BBQ Pit on Prairie as one of the few remaining options within the city limits. http://www.vicsandricksbbqpit.com/

V&R is not bad, but its more of a place I go with family and friends when they want burgers or tenders for the kids, and I want a servicable bbq sandwich.

I plan to get to Comfort Zone for one last run on the Catfish and some brisket and hot link combo!

I never got around to trying Comfort Zone. I have some mobility issues and for me it is a difficult place to get to as is Ballydoyle. We made one trip to Vic and Rick's and thought it was pretty good but we just had pulled pork and a grilled fish. Haven't been back because I hate sitting at a picnic table which is what all their inside seating is.
