    I'm in.

Buffet will definitely be the cheapest and most efficient option but probably not the best one, foodwise. Maybe we could all get the buffet and also order a few supplementary dishes from the menu to share, if any of them look particularly tempting.

That sounds like a good idea.

I am looking forward to it. we can also stop in and see how Maria is doing on her second day at her new location. I was in today, and she said that they are going to do the move without even closing for a day, which seems rather gutsy to me.

Wish I could, but it's just out of my lunch zone for a comfortable 1.5 hour lunch hour before the pointy haired boss ppl start to wonder why I'm not in my cage, er...cubicle.

    seebee,

There is always a chance we come closer to your zone. Or you can organize a lunch, I promise I will try to make it. :)

I made reservations for eight (we are seven) for Cathy at 11:30 tomorrow.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

A co-worker might join us, if that's ok. He's not going to know for sure until I'm leaving the office, which will be about 11:15. However, if we no longer have room, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I knew of seven and ordered a table for eight. If more than that show up, no big deal.

LOL, no it was Jonny Chickpeas, our resident vegetarian, who really appreciates Indian food.

'Twas a fun and enjoyable -- if not particularly delicious -- lunch. Thanks again, to C2 for organizing. Curry Hut is adequate but never really scratches the itch for me like my faves on Devon Avenue or even like India House in Buffalo Grove, for that matter. I thought a lot of what was on today's buffet was bland and thin, and the chickpeas in the chana masala were hard and not fully cooked, which was big bummer. Still, I think CH's lunch buffet surpasses their carry-out, which is something to its credit. :?

Probably my favorite thing I tasted today was Lamb Vindaloo, which Will ordered off the menu. It was moderately spicy with a deep, complex flavor . . .

The real highlight of the meal came after lunch when we walked one door north to the new location of (as of this past Saturday) Maria's Bakery. There, not only did we sample (and purchase) some great pastries, we also ogled the cavalcade of delicious savory dishes that we should have had for lunch today (the second showcase is always better, right?). Long before Maria began shoving all sorts of delectable samples in our faces, it was decided that we'd convene there in June for the next installment of the LTH-North Lunch Group.

    Hi,

Plan A had been to go to Maria's. We thought we would give her a break to allow her to settle in first. Who knew she would be quickly up and running with a steam table with stuffed peppers and two different lasagnas to choose from?

Plan B was more a what the heck, it's there and I haven't been to Curry Hut since it first opened. I remember the buffet initially had more spicy food. Today all my choices did not challenge me with their heat level. There was tandor chicken on the buffet line. When they first opened, tandor chicken was brought to your table sizzling fresh.

    Can't wait until next month!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Ha! We were punished for our lack of faith in Maria. Of course, she was running at full speed today. This is Maria we're talking about. Fools, we were. :D

It was great listening to her describe her stuffed peppers, explaining that she roasts them before she stuffs and bakes them, to give the overall dish additional depth of flavor. This is a woman who clearly cares about the details. I'm very much looking forward to next month, as well.

I don't think we're were punished. I ate my cache from Maria's as part of last night's dinner along with leftovers from the other day. A definite one-two punch! :D
