Cheetos are my favorite snack atm.

I don't know NAV MAN, you might just need to get out to Beverley and try a chocolate malt at Top Notch on 95th St. One of the best ice-cream+milk concoctions I have ever had. You can also get a damn fine burger and fries with that.

I'll second Brown Sack fa sho.

Also be sure to hit up Edzo's for the amazing Nutella shake. Word on the street is the spicy Mexican chocolate shake & the Oreo shake are awesome there too.

On a mini milk shake crawl last year, I thought Irazu was the hands-down winner (Brown Sack happened to be closed that day).

There have been two NAV APPEARANCES @ EDZOs. Great experience first time. So much so I brought some people there on 4/9/10 @ 3:55pm. Comfortably inside of the 4pm deadline. The shopkeeper kinda rudely turned us away. That was a pretty long drive for no payoff. Not going back.
Cheetos are my favorite snack atm.

I think this is a pretty cool idea for a one-person-athon.

Milkshakes are one of those beverages I have every few years, never crave now but used to drink regularly as a yute. Will be interested to see what you turn up...and thanks for daring to dream big.

Specifically, the peanut butter and chocolate milkshake at The Brown Sack.

I am generally not interested in milkshakes, but I have cravings for this one.

    Hi,

If you want a chilled beverage breather: Mario's Italian Ice on Taylor St. opens May 1st. While it may not be a milkshake, it is delicious, ice cold and melts to mushy deliciousness!

I'm a bit of a purist so Brown Sack's Vanilla is the best in the city.

2nd Best in the City is the Vanilla at Marcus Samuelson's Burger - Conveniently on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street.

I wold give Edzo's another try, the Spicy Mexican Chocolate (it's got chili & man that cool beverage followed by some spice heat is delightful for this non-chocolate lover).

Nowhere near the convenientest zone for you, but Paradise Pup makes a darn fine milkshake. I've sung the praises of their chocolate banana shake before, and it remains one of the best I've had in the Chicago area.

It also just dawned on me that now that I'm working right by O'Hare and the Allstate Arena, I need to be visiting Paradise Pup yesterday. Tomorrow sounds about right, though the line might be brutal with it warming up again.

It was about two years ago and it might have been a one-off, but a chocolate malt I had at Cameron's on Southport and Diversey approached the Platonic ideal of chocolate malts.

Chocolate milkshake at Weiner's Circle: it's a bit pricey, but worth it for at least one time.

As a point of comparison you might want to try a batidos at Cafecito. More like a cross between a smoothie and a milkshake, and definitely not as rich as the latter, but a refereshing drink that serves the same purpose very well.

Wait a cotton-pickin' moment! When did they get milkshakes back? Years ago, this was my go to for a vanilla shake & then the machine "broke".

I've already had egg custard cups & gelato today, are you going to make me head back out for a milkshake today as well? And to think I wonder what gave me tummy ache this morning

You do NOT want to order a chocolate shake at Wiener's Circle. I'll give you a hint: there's no ice cream involved, and you'll see way more than you ever wanted to of one of the establishment's employees.

Pretty sure this is a puerile comment. See the reference to "chocolate milkshake" on the Wikipedia page.

 There I was thinking that on the food chat site we were actually talking about food. They did use to serve what's commonly thought of as milkshakes. <sigh> I have no use for what's mentioned on that Wiki page. Thanks for the clarification.

I don't recommend making it a Boston shake, though. They've been known to render grown men comatose from the sugar overload.
