Thanks for giving it a shot; hard to believe I've become a proponent of the place, but that stuff is addicting.

    Hi,

I have a tickle of a memory of Portillo's offering a pie shake. I didn't see it on their menu, though that doesn't mean it is not available. Please note, I know of it and never tried it.

I did find this, while looking for anything to confirm this pie shake:

I don't know NAV MAN, you might just need to get out to Beverley and try a chocolate malt at Top Notch on 95th St. One of the best ice-cream+milk concoctions I have ever had. You can also get a damn fine burger and fries with that.

Seconded. The Vanilla Malt at Top Notch on 95th is, IMHO, the finest milkshake in the city. (And their beef-tallow-cooked fries are the finest in the city too; their burger is, IMHO, a solid, good burger - but not tops in the city like their other two offerings).

No mention of Suzie's on Montrose and their dozens of shake flavors?

And how could the NAV MAN pass up the one-two gutpunch of a shake and a corn pole?

suzie's has dozens of flavors but their shakes are terrible. I took two sips of mine and tossed the rest.

The NAV MAN should go elsewhere for his shake fix tomorrow--the Sack is closed on Sundays (and Mondays). But when you do make it there, I highly recommend getting a chocolate/banana combo shake.

I vote vanilla, but not tomorrow or Monday. I'm glad you posted here that you were going to hit the Brown Sack tomorrow. I'm really glad someone saved you a trip.

Didn't an LTH-er make a shake of ice cream and pumpkin pie once? That looked fantastic. One day I'll try that, if we have pie long enough to make it to shake form...

In a former life, I was in a relationship with someone from Iowa City. There is a place there called the Hamburg Inn #2 where I enjoyed a pie shake from time to time. I remember really loving the pumpkin pie shake, but they seem to make pie shakes of any variety. NAV MAN, don't know if a trip out west is in your near future, but the pie shake can't be beat!
