Does anyone know a place to find malted milk powder? I'd like to try David Lebovitz's malted milk ball ice cream and I'm having trouble finding the powder.
    Thanks in advance.

I used to see it in the grocery store with the powdered milk. Or, you can try an Asian store - generally Horlicks brand
    - generally found in the coffee section

Carnation makes plain (and chocolate-flavored) malted milk powder, per Nestlé USA's site. It should be fairly widely available, but if you can't find it locally, Amazon sells it in 3-packs.

This stuff immediately came to mind because I saw it in use at Edzo's...so I figure it must be decent :)

No problem.. enjoy the ice cream. That recipe is why we bought it, too.

It ought to be easy to make. Just mix dried skim milk with DME (dried malt extract, available at any homebrew store, like this one, but many other varieties and caramelization levels are available). I've used the DME without the dried skim, but with cream (based on a Charlie Trotter recipe), to make a malt-flavored ice cream, and it turned out well.
