La Bori Island Grill opened up shop a few weeks ago, and instead of putting out sub-par Mexican like the restaurant before it, it's serving up perhaps the only Puerto Rican to be had in the suburbs. The menu looks fairly diverse - jibaritos, cuban sandwiches, platos such as conoas, mofongo, and pernil, and a bunch of fried snacks like alcapurrias, bacalaitos, and papa rellena.
I can't speak to authenticity as I'm not an expert on Puerto Rican food, but what I've had so far has been promising. The jibarito was great, with good chunks of steak topped with cheese and garlic mayo, and the mofongo was also good, think a plantain and chicharron matzo ball over rice and pigeon peas. Next up will be a sampling of some fried items.
If you live close by, definitely drop in and try it out. It's definitely unique for the area.
