    Evidently, it's no Canoes.

Six weeks and thats what you came up with. What did you like better the early bird special or the salad bar? I have been to Maui many times and Canoes was forgeatable in my opinion.

Hilarious, I was just about to say the same thing about Jameson's by the Sea ("best on Oahu"). If it had been called "J. Alexander's by the Sea", I wouldn't have questioned it. The food was generic & overpriced, and the front porch had stunning views of a big rock seawall & the Kamehameha Highway (better than traffic-choked route 83, I guess). Calling it "best on Oahu" is like declaring Grand Luxe Cafe "best in Chicago".

Fortunately, I'd had a stellar teri chicken plate lunch from Chef Nick's Mixed Grindz truck for lunch to look back on fondly while eating a completely unnoteworthy dinner at Jameson's.

Well, aside from being happy the OP found pleasing places to dine, I'm curious to know what else was done on this astonishingly generous vacation. Six weeks anywhere is not a bad deal, if you can arrange it.

Well, I must say that Gypsy Boy's images of the trip to Mexico made me hungry.

As for Silas Jayne's images of the condo in PV, to which you link, it certainly seems that Hawaii is not much of a change of pace. ;-)

However, I was curious what sorts of adventures might have been enjoyed during six weeks in Hawaii.

And, to be perfectly honest, I was just trying to be a little more encouraging. The OP's picks elicited a rather negativity response, and I thought the initial enthusiasm could be encouraged, even if no one seems to agree with the choices. The food pictures look good, but I haven't been to Hawaii (except to change planes en route to somewhere else) in forty years, so I don't have an opinion (though I do remember liking the taro leaves and pua'a at the Hilton luau). Of course, championing the underdog didn't work when I was in grade school, either, so I suppose I should just get over it.

Championing the huh? Dude owns a couple of laundromatts, a condo in PV, took a 6 week vacation to Hawaii, and have you seen his car? SJ is riding high without your help, it seems.

So, does money mean people don't feel it when they get hit? I do not see how what he owns (and no, I haven't seen his car) has any bearing on my trying to be more positive.

I guess you missed the whole Silas Jayne saga. I'd recommend reading his other posts, and maybe reading some of his posts on other forums, to get an idea for the kind of guy he is and whether he's earned his lumps or not.

Clearly, I missed it. I have been PM'd with similar advice, and it has been duly noted that, while some have received less than cordial replies without provocation (as noted very cleverly in the "This Thread Sucks" thread), such is not the case here.

Nope, I haven't seen it, though my curiosity is now piqued. I'm guessing from your comment that it's probably somewhat spiffier than my 20-year-old Accord. ;-)

It's true. When I see people pulling out of Perillo BMW in them, I make it a point to ask them if they're from Hollywood.
