Grapefruit and peach Italian ice from Annette's Homemade Italian Ice in Lincoln Park.

The Italian ice is incredible here, with grapefruit being my standard order for half, and the other half on a rotation of black cherry, peach, and mandarin orange.

The medium at $4 is the perfect amount when I am having a major craving, although the even cheaper child and small may do for someone with more self-control...

I'm not sure why this place gets so little love in comparison to a place like Mario's, which granted is a slightly different product, but I feel doesn't stand up to what they do at Annette's in terms of flavor and freshness.

Yes, you have to deal with students, $1,200 strollers, and trixies, but it is all worth if in my opinion.

it"s cuz the lines are already long enough and we're trying to keep it a secret. last thing we need is a check please effect on annette's which will mean i'll have to wait like 2 hours in a line on a summer night. GAH!

I enjoy my weekly visits to Annette's in the summer. The portions tend to be far too large for me (I get the kid size!) but I'm a fan of their lychee ice and spumoni ice cream.

I live a few blocks down the road and to be honest, have never had to wait more than ~5 minutes to get my order. For statistics sake, I tend to visit after 8pm.

They are back open again for the season, I think it started sometime mid-March.

If you drive by, you can see their other business, the rotisserie restaurant has the windows soaped-over. For a brief moment, my heart dropped thinking that the entire establishment was closed for good.

But, nothing to fear! The old man is still churning out some of the best Italian ice in the city, in Lincoln Park no less!

I've already been in 3 or 4 times for the grapefruit and black cherry ices.

    Yum....

I love Annette's! Even though we live a block away from Tom and Wendee's, we always walk the extra few blocks to Annette's and justify getting the larger size for our "workout"!
