I'm taking my mother out for brunch Sunday, and she has a new fixation on Pinstripes. Has anyone been there for brunch? Or maybe Gianni's in Palatine? I heard their brunch is good. Any input greatly appreciated from the land out beyond

I was to the Pinstripes in Palatine a few weeks ago (dinner, not brunch), and it seemed like a fun place. Does your mom play bacci? There are some beautiful bacci courts there.

I have been to Pinstripes in Barrington a couple of times, once for dinner and once for a company brunch. The place is fun, but the food is just ok.

We had a groupon that we were supposed to use with another couple this evening but they had kid issues & couldn't come out. Seeing as the groupon expires in a few day, we went anyways & this is the expectation we had going to Pinstripes (Barrington location), that it would be ok at best, thankfully we were pleasantly surprised.

Sunday's soup is chicken dumpling, stock had good flavor & there were lots of different veggies. Dumplings seemed to be an herbed dough that was made into a long thin roll of dough, baked briefly (could see a browned baked mark of where it was on the oven pan), then cut into small bite sized pieces. We both really enjoyed this.

Filet sliders, marinated filet on small buns with pickled red onion & drizzled with some stock. Quite good.

Meatball sliders, the meh item of the evening, meatballs were mealy & red sauce lacked pizazz.

Some nice flights of wine to choose from, most of the 'signature' cocktails were too fru fru/sweet for me.

The bacci courts at 6pm were wide open, not one was in use.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.
