    Damnit!!! I'm out as quickly as I was in. :(

    My wife informed me last night that we have a conflict. My 8 year old has a baseball game. The poor kid broke his arm right before his first baseball game and hasn't been able to play all season. His game on June 5 will be one of the first games (if not thee first game) that he'll be able to play.

    So, you just had 4 spaces free up, jimswside. I was really looking forward to this too.

    did you post this to see if anyone was paying attention or do you actually mean it?

    I'm planning on bringing a whole package of napkins from Costco - the kind that you can wipe yer face with more than once.

    I meant it, of course. It's a Japanese rift on Tofu salad I made for the family last week. A few nights before, I made an arugula salad with toasted anchovies about an inch long and the width of thick dental floss. After that salad, the tofu with anchovies seemed rather conventional.

    I'm testing recipes for someone's book.

    Well, now that I've questioned out-loud, I should respond out-loud that OF COURSE I trust your cooking and I'll try a small [gulp] nibble.

    I don't care how trendy they've gotten, anchovies & I have yet to make peace.

    Hi,

    My Dad doesn't like anchovies, either. Mixed into things and invisible, he can work with it. These are bits of anchovy placed exactly on the tofu. He ate it up just fine.

    If you don't like it, you have had advance notice. :)

    Are anchovies trendy now? Hope not, want to keep prices down and supply plentiful and readily available for us anchovores.

    White anchovies are a thing of beauty and completely delicious...the grainy, almost unbearably salty mush bits in the tins are a completely different story (but still tasty in their own way.)

    Here is the most current list of attendees, let me know if I missed anyone.

    From the looks of the dishes/items folks are bringing it looks like the appetzier, dessert, and beverage area's are the most underrepresented(dont let this discourage anyone from bringing a favorite side, etc. to share). Once again thanks for the interest in coming out.

    Like I mentioned upthread I am ordereing the pig 5/21, and getting a pig somewhere between 90-100 lbs, with the other dishes being served/brought this should be plenty of roasted pig for everyone. I am still thinkg it will be a bout $3 per person for the cost of the pig and charcoal for folks that want to chip in on the pig.

    Attendees(pot luck item):

    jimswside +1 (pig, abt's, links)
    ronnie_suburban+3 (bourbon, side or salad) x
