I'm finding it incredibly difficult to find acetate sheets for mousse cakes and what not. I know I can find it online, but would prefer a source within the city. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

You may want to call Northwestern Cutlery. I was there recently and they have a large selection of baking supplies (though I didn't see acetate sheets). Do they have to be food grade? I got huge acetate sheets at Blick art store in Evanston (but it was for a craft project).

I'm not really clear about acetate from art stores leaking weird chemicals onto my cakes. Is all acetate food-grade?

Would prefer food-grade, if such a thing exists, because it will be in direct contact with food.

I've used 8.5x11 report binders (the kind with the slide-on triangular tube for a binding) to make fruit leather for an Alinea recipe.
I didn't think about "food grade," but nobody got sick.

Pretty sure bet that Michael's or even Jo Ann's has the sheets as my wife tells me that stamper hobbyist use them. As above, have no idea about food grade or not.
Coming to you from Leiper's Fork, TN where we prefer forking to spooning.
